Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn
But the hand breakdowns, or perhaps my tolerance of them, are getting worse. They sound like the gigantic rationalizations we pleb recs β sorry, I meant "the people" β make.
Always have been, he rationalizes everything...
This is usually bad, but I did it anyway, and let me tell you why.
[Goofy voice] He knows that I know, that he knows that my barber knows that his uncle knows that he knows, you know what I mean!? So it's not GTO but that's fine, in a way it MAKES it GTO coolio daddio! But I lost obviously because I can't win. [Goofy voice]
There's nothing convenient about Polk, these are tournament results. But what is convenient is you taking away that 2014 1M One Drop Cash but incorporating into your numbers the 2018 event where he played but did not cash. While it could be true you might have to link up where he states 2024 net. He safely had over 2M in cashes. It's clear that you don't like him but it would ta
It seems like you are ******ed so I will repeat:
- He has been a losing player this year ( -$611,971 total)
- He has been a losing player the last 5 years (-$2,500,000 total)
- He has been a losing player the last 10 years ( -$1,000,000 total)
Even from 5-10 years ago, his results are irrelevant of you want to judge whether he is a winning player (today), not to mention results from even further back.
I used to play and made money off poker in 2009-2017 too. Does not mean I would not get destroyed in the same games today.
He is an overall losing player in the games and fields he plays, living off sponsorships. No need to simp for him buddy.
Lmao you put the down into the syndrome. Itβs obvious you hate the man but to suggest the game has passed him by in events such as all of the 10K mixed events and PGT/US Poker Open tournaments that are populated by best overall players is silly as his track record in those is very strong. He won the 50K PPC two years ago.
He plays the SHR NLHE as a dog against guys who only specialize in them because heβs sponsored. Not sure whatβs so hard to understand.
Some guy simply asked βis he profitable since 2004?β, where the answer is a resounding yes to the tune of possibly a quite conservative 7-8M dollars. But then you derailed it to start at 2015 due to your own butthurt agenda.
Yeah, exactly. He is a big winner at mixed game tournaments and $25K and under NLHE tournaments. He is probably a dog at super high rollers and plays them because he is sponsored. GG wants vlogs of them and his play against top tournament players. He is a good NLHE tournament player now, but probably not at the top level.
Daniel entering low buy in events and donking off his chips
should get him more negative feedback than it does.

I am not simply "some guy".
Anywho, I looked back at Daniel's hendon from 1997-2002...and my god. He was so far ahead of the game and running so hot. Im sure he played a lot of tournaments but its a string of final tables and wins like no run you see. Tournaments were smaller then, but they were also more top heavy. They also didnt run near as often as today so he was on a tear.
His 02-05 is simply unmatched by anybody not named Phil ivey. You could basically say Daniel ran ****ing pure for 8 straight years. Sorry if this was discussed before but id never looked at that era
Daniel really does kinda suck
He is a winning player. But he is no where close to say top 1000 in the world.
His results clearly show this. No world class player can have the results he has had.
A winning player could lose a year here or there in tournaments, but his overall results
would be nearly impossible for a world class player.
Not sure why he is so popular. He talks like a child. He said increasing the rake was good
for the game and stood by that. I actually watch his blogs to follow the world series some as
I live far away. His blog is kinda embarrassing. If he gets lucky and wins at all his eigo gets huge and
he thinks he's the greatest, when he gets unlucky and loses, all excuses of course.
lol sorry, yeah you are not just "some guy"
Today's top players are obviously better, but computers taught them how to play. However, I give a ton of props to a guy who just mostly figured stuff out on his own and while I'm sure he ran good, he was ahead of the pack.
Thanks. And most definitely he deserves credit as he seemed to "figure it out" along with a few other guys well before anything became mainstream strategy.
Wtf is up with the flat brimmed hats now tho? He looks like a 50 year old idiot
i like Negreanue most of the time
Hes a multimillionaire and his buy ins wins/losses im sure have no real impact on his life so whether hes up or down 1mill means nothing over a series with such high buy ins
What i dont liike tho is this year as mentioned earlier is when hes sat at $600 or $1k buy ins hes saying out loud how pitiful it is
I find that very condescending and actually very rude this could be a tournament that some of these people have saved a long time for just to play at the WSOP
also
I think Alex Foxen might knock him out one day if he continues to call him a big oaf and ape noises like hes dense π

He's too dense and stubborn to realize he's better off playing against "the masses" where he actually has a skill edge, than trying to fight the super-pros who have him outclassed.
And after he's been drinking a bit the real Daniel starts to appear through the cracks of the facade. From his absolute blowup at the poker party a few years ago where he was getting physical and insulting people, then stumbling back to his hotel drunk in the dark, alone on the street, to where he was showing his obvious disdain for that guy that wanted a picture or autograph in his most recent vlog and just brushed the guy off and kept moving.
I agree that he can beat $10K or so tournaments and any level of mixed, and shouldn't be playing those SHRs. Maybe it is what GG wants him to do and/or is in his contract.
It is obvious that he is making money off GG, not from playing. He doesn't even seem to play that much. He seems to have big assets from 20+ years of endorsement contracts and crushing tournaments for 10 or 15 years, plus that 2nd place in the $1M entry in 2014, which was probably mostly with his own money.
Posters here extrapolate that he is a losing player, which is obviously not true. He can clearly make more than a 2/5 grinders does. Some of this is over the top. People are jealous of his endorsement contract and celebrity status.
Let me break it down simply for you. A lot of people find the high stakes gambling lifestyle interesting and want to see more about it. Daniel opens the door and says let me show you what it's like, and he's generally pretty open about it whether he wins or loses. When people approach him in person, he signs autographs and takes pictures. You get to argue and show data in this thread about Daniel's results because he provides it.
Some people don't like being famous. Daniel obviously does, and he does the things necessary to stay that way. People like that, whether they like him or hate him, he continually gives them things to celebrate (whether it's success or failure).
He said increasing the rake was good for the game and stood by that..
If people can keep bleating this out without context, I can keep correcting people. He said that in a particular situation, where a game is full of professionals and EV merchants, sometimes if you increase the rake, you get rid of professionals and make a better game for recreational players who now have a better chance to win. In reality, every winning player is a rake on the game. If by doubling the rake from 2BB per hand to 4BB per hand, you get rid of 7 winning players raking the game at a combined total of 10BB per hand, that's a good result for the sustainability of the game.
His point is absolutely 100% correct and he's right to stand by it. He *never* said "increasing rake is better for poker" as an absolute.
I get it, you hate Negreanu because he got the dream life and you didn't. Get over it.
I can take or leave him, and the vlogs are somehat tired at this stage but I still watch.
Its quite hilarious that he thinks he can play 10 weeks a year and never study and mix it with the crushers because his weird style breaks their brains. Listen to yourself man....you are doing the equivalent of moving up levels to where they respect your raises. He doesn't know what the right thing is to do in tons of situations, so he invents his own thing and justifies it as a masterplan. Incredible levels of delusion.
Like he limp RR the 88 and Foxen sniffed it out, but because he was ahead most of the way he thought he was a genius.

I really didn't get his turn bet either. I think he had 750k or so and the pot was already 1.2 million and he bet a third of his remaining stack give or take.
What does that bet accomplish? If you're trying to rep Aces or Kings there, that turn card brings in TONS of dangerous draws with a lot of river cards that can give your opponent two pair, a straight or a flush.
If you actually hold AA or KK there don't you just shove given SPR to deny equity? Why bet roughly 1/6th of the pot and 1/3 of your remaining stack? What believable story are you telling there?
He's really trying to make this One Seed (Seat?) nickname a thing.
Anyone else catch Daniel talking about how he does things the rest of the pros can't comprehend and he loves it when his play gets criticized because that means he knows he's playing above the rim?
It felt like a page right out of Hellmuths book which is funny considering how much Negreanu has criticized Hellmuth over the years for this exact thing.
Good thing PLO is Daniel's jam. Here are the equites of each hand when the money went in during the $25K PLO event. Guess which hand Daniel had...
Spoiler
Daniel had hand #4 (JT98)
lets just ignore how often he's up against most of those hands in a 5 way preflop all in lets also ignore the price he was getting
daniel isnt good at plo and is an ass but this aint it chief
