Another great run - congrats on the cash! You are running good, and playing better! Wish you a solid end to the trip.

LOL, no shot taken by me. It’s just that I can be a bit jaded about some aspects of the world (this city in particular) that can be soul sucking and money grubbing. Sex trade being one of them. Or maybe I was looking good waking up strip from Paris to Wynn at 4:30AM last fall with protein shake in a coffee cup to be approached by no less than 3 ladies saying good morning. Maybe….

I had to look up what "squiffy" means.

And then there’s always America’s favorite guessing game when drinking at the club: “hooker/NOT a hooker.”

Ahh, reminds me of the good old Hooker Bar at the Rio. And I don't know if it has a nickname, but the bar in Bellagio next to the poker room usually had a considerable population of hookers. Because I sat near it waiting for my seat so often, I saw quite a few hot chick/mediocre dude interactions.

Last time I was at the Wynn I saw an 80 year old gentleman being escorted to the elevators by a smoking hot girl in a slinky dress who couldn't have been over 25 years old. You know what? Good for both of them.

The steak at Martha Stewart was very good. Potato purée excellent too. I had $50 of comps to use so I had two Malbecs and a beer. Really good chatting to the woman at the bar and the best meal I’ve had in Vegas Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dangit, once again I failed to use my Diamond $100 meal. I better remember to use it next trip, before Fertitta cancels it.

Last day in Vegas. Actually slept great. My two worst sleeps of the trip have been before my two day 2s. Long mtt days really can be consuming mentally.

On that point and I am guessing no one else tracks those things but, my sports watch captures sleep steps recovery heart rate etc

Despite not partying or drinking a huge amount and sleeping in the main pretty well….and getting to the gym 4 times…my body recovery index has been consistently very low (like in the teens vs a standard score for me of between 70 and 90). Relatedly, my resting heart rate is way up on usual - generally I’m in the 54-57 range and my rate since arriving here has moved up into the mid 60s. It’s actually 68 today.

Not sure if it’s the heat or the altitude or the tension of the mtts? I remember having a conversation with Faraz Jaka at the table a long time ago and he got acne every year at the World Series and at other long mtt stops as a reaction to the adrenal fatigue

Idk but I’m guessing my body will be happy to get back to Australia too

This morning I had an hour or more of pool time, I’ve arranged a late check out and came back to the mall to buy something for one of my daughters. I’m just having something to eat at the Mexican place outside the Mall and will head back to pack up and check out.

Chicken enchiladas ftw - $26 before too

Then, I’m catching up with a friend playing the Milly to sell him some more of my US$ so I’m not over the $10k limit when I fly. I will hopefully play a few hours of cash before leaving

I started back with a tracker (Garmin in January). My body battery set a new worst high of 43 on Monday (normally in 75-95) and had lows this week <10. Last 2 days were high 80 with lows <10….that is the stress of poker tournament and not best sleep. Renting heart rate was actually stable in upper 40s to low 50s - normal per my watch is upper 40’s.

But yes - Vegas energy and poker are not easy. I do credit efforts made at watching what I eat, trying for sleep and exercise for large assists for me in these long MTT days.

I noticed this during my last TR as well, with some added extra beats. It got to a point where it actually affected my sleep. I did a ton of research etc for me particularly it was the heat combined with extra sugar and obviously a little bit of stress from gambling.

I just have to calm down a bit and try and find a coffee place that doesn’t try and kill you with sugar like Starbucks!

Hmm, that makes sense. I don’t eat much sugar here tbh so it might just be the heat. Altitude isn’t that high but it’s still 800m higher than I’m usually at?

I was supposed to have some blood work done next week as a follow up to my last physical. I just moved it back two weeks. If I had kept the original blood work date so close to my WSOP trip conclusion I think my doctor may have sent me to the Emergency Room once he got my results. I only gained 3 pounds while at the WSOP, which is a big surprise given all the food and Dr Pepper I consumed.

Read the whole TR in 2 seating and just want to say TY and congratulations. Amazing trip for you, amazing report for us.

density altitude mang.

when its 110F in vegas the air is "like 6500' altitude msl" or so, when its actually 2000' msl- its y they dont do big heavy fully fueled long distance flights in the mid day out of vegas when its hot

because the air is so "skinny" planes got to go faster to get lift and need more runway

Heh. I scheduled my blood work for tomorrow before I leave for LV kinda for the same reason. Why skew the results with fantasy life? 😀

I sleep like absolute crap at home so I'm interested in seeing what strange surroundings, new-to-me bed, freaky sleep schedule and odd diet choices does for me in LV.

Thank you

And thanks to everyone who has commented and given encouragement along the way. It’s a lot of work doing a report but actually…for those of us on solo trips…it builds a sense of community

I love reading reports through the year and it’s great to have been able to put together an enjoyable one for the LVL crew

Just played two hours of utterly forgettable 2/3 while drinking a few beers and having a massage. There were some good 3/5 tables on offer but I honestly didn’t want to battle any more

+$74

In a cab on the way to the airport. Definitely the most clear headed I’ve been leaving Vegas. Age I guess…and also taking both my health and the poker more seriously these days and wanting to be able to think clearly and make good decisions.

If I get time at the airport I’ll do a P&L and a write up. If not, will do it on the plane

Sitting in the airport bar at Harry Reid reflecting on my trip

My last wsop trip to Vegas was 3 years ago. During that trip, I bricked all 6 tournaments I entered, lost at cash, was robbed at the LAX lounge on the way home and when I arrived back at Sydney airport I found that someone had crashed into my car in the long term car park and not left a message.

In a previous trip I partied all night then left my phone in the cab on the way to Harry Reid.

So I know the other side of these trips and that’s what makes this trip so special.

I’ve run well, I think in the main I’ve played as good as I am able to (I’m a little meh on a few decisions from
yesterday - none were terrible but some were borderline/marginally wrong….and I’m feeling them because they all turned out bad!) and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my trip.

It’s been an incredible break for me from quite a complicated life back home. I’m returning home refreshed, looking forward to seeing my kids and my partner and actually….to getting back to my life and work.

Here are the results

0/1 satellites -$580
2/4 mtt +$10,330
13 hours of cash +1,364
(For the nits…5.5 hrs 3/5 +389, 7.5hrs 2/3 +975)

Total +11,134

I flew to Vegas with $6800
I am flying home with $6550 plus some nice gifts for the kids and my partner and I’ve sold $10k US to Aussie friends over here for just over 14,200 kangaroo dollars

Winning helps but this past 9 months coming back to poker…. after pretty much 2 years away from it as I went through my separation and a ton of **** that came with it ….has re-ignited my passion for the game. Studying, learning, re-committing to it has really helped my skills and also my confidence and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who still loves the game.

Seniors week/fortnight has been a blessing. I hold my own against the cash pros at the casino, but the games were so much less tricky playing other 50 and overs. You’re just rarely getting attacked or outplayed. There were still some super annoying villains (omfg yes there were) but in general there’s more table talk and a better environment too.

I thoroughly recommend them to anyone who qualifies.

That’s about it I think. My beer has just arrived and I’m gonna start psyching myself up for the long flight to Sydney after I get to LA

Thanks so much for following and for all the comments and encouragement

Safe travels sir. Was a pleasure meeting you and enjoyed sweating the deep runs from up here in Hoserland.

Great trip report! And great results. It was pleasure to get to meet you and share a meal with you. And I agree on the Senior events this is the first time I have played them and they certainly are more friendly and abc kind of poker.

Have a great flight home. You are one of the good guys 😀

Some due run good. Focusing on things that matter lately (family, work, your health and hobbies you have passion for) is likely a recipe for lifetime success.

Until next year - safe travels

Thanks Prairie, great to meet you too.

And it reminds me that I didn’t summarise that part of the trip. Dinners, chats, quick hellos….it was awesome to say hi to so many tpt ers. Really enjoyed putting faces to names

Congrats on a fun trip with some great results. Can't draw it up much better.

Shame we never worked out a time to meet, but I know how that goes with getting busy and focusing on other priorities. Maybe next time!

well done on your cash & a shame to not really get the chance to spend time. BTW, I've been following onto your trip report but it's in the funky format and tpt won't let me reply

next time..
