Suitedjustice's Ongoing Mid-life Crisis
I woke up in the middle of choking to death again; though to be accurate, it was towards the end of the process--woke up
APs should make no difference to the performance of any given slot machine other than increasing volume anyway, isn't it? And decreasing the chances of those who don't know what they're doing, cos they are more likely to find a machine in an empty state. Assuming you have the machine continuously running and there's no reset at any time of the day or week or something then the
I think all of that is correct in its essentials. The machines are set to take a certain percentage of the coin-in over the long run regardless of who plays them. Clusters of big jackpot payouts or long dry spells will throw the numbers off, but only in the short to medium run.

It's summertime and twoplustwo is back from whatever periodic DoS attack or whatnot they've endured—maybe the boys spilled beer on the servers. It serves as a reminder that some day this thread, along with Nit-tastic Tales, will disappear forever down the memory hole. For me, summertime means that it's the drinking season again.
I've fulfilled my two weeks of family and friends obligations, and I'm a free man again. Today I'm going to try MGM Springfield's Tuesday $190 tournament for the first time.
I'm a good tourney player, better than I am at cash, but the rake for these small buy-in events is too damn high, and you're expected to tip the dealers when you win; this after you've already given them a few bucks for more chips at the beginning—so that's all more rake with a different name.
This tourney is on my scheduled day off, and it's probably an even EV prop after the rake, or an unsustainably small hourly +EV play at best, so I'm going to consider it as degenning, and not include it in the running tally.
I consider myself an above-average tipper overall and worked multiple years in the service industry, and I'm giving you explicit permission to not tip on top of the "pre-tip" that is added into the cost of the tournament. If there is some above and beyond service that speaks to you and you want to, then obviously by all means, but don't feel obligated, at least IMO.
LGLG!

How much is the rake overall? Well, regardless it is probably slightly plus EV simply because these low stakes live tourney players are some of the worst poker players ever. If it was your typical springfield 1/2 NL lineup it would probably be already -EV.

The problem is they have usually already laid it out for you at the end of a tourney that it is hard to avoid tipping. You'd have to be grossly impolite. Ofc some people have no problem with that. But as a reg, if everyone knows you, I imagine it would be even harder.

Thinking of what you’ve shared here and elsewhere living on, no one has reached out to you to option your published work, Open Container, into a major motion picture?
In before the tip discussion, not going to give my two cents.
Nice story about golfing with Dad. Thanks for sharing
Just made a Freudian slip at the table. Stacked a station over 3 streets with an overpair and he shook my hand as he was leaving, and I said "Nice playing you."
At my apartment the walls are fairly thick, and I rarely hear my neighbors on my floor. When someone had a Siberian husky living next door, I would occasionally hear a few muffled husky drama queen complaints, but that was more cute than annoying.
However, the ceiling seems to be paper thin when compared to the walls. I hear everything that goes on in the apartment above mine, and I've endured some real doozies living up there. Myself, I'm a headphones guy, and I'm pretty damn quiet.
The place above mine has been empty for more than a month, and it's been a real blessing. Today someone came to look at that apartment. He had a foreign accent—which is good—means he probably works a lot. But I also heard him say "We." I didn't quite get the context, but that's a red flag. Two people make more than twice the noise as one, it seems to me, and it means that someone is at home much more often.
So I booted up an old Final Fantasy V game that I got for cheap on PlayStation, and I cranked up the volume somewhat, letting the prospective renter have a 16-bit JRPG musical taste of what he might be in for if he rented the place. In actuality, I would mute the game or play it with headphones outside of this demonstration, but he doesn't know that.
I heard the conversation falter between him and the property manager as the game music kicked in, so maybe I saved myself some grief. Or maybe not. Someone much worse could come along in his place when I'm not here.
Time will tell.
I made a good start to the workweek: +$245 at poker over 4 hours and +$275 at the slots over 4 hours. At one point I was dealt 3 aces (no kicker) at a 50c, 5-play Triple Double Bonus game with a bunch of multipliers on screen. The vp heads out there will know how good of a spot that is, but I didn't boat or quad up. It was still a nice payout, but ahhh what could have been...On to the next hand.
The MGM poker room closes at 1:45 AM on weekdays, and 2:45 AM on weekends, and the last two hours are the best time to play, any time of the week. The same table that is reg-infested at 10 PM can be printing EV just 2 hours later.
oooo yeah few things get the juices going like drawing to AAA in Double Double or Triple Double
Here's my updated media bucket list. I haven't made much progress on it lately, now that I'm working a regular schedule.
Shows with ** or *** next to them are in the current rotation, and the numbers after them denote the season and episode that I'm currently on.
Shows in the Next Batch List are on deck to be moved into the rotation. Shows in the Second Tier are those that I watch occasionally, and I will finish them eventually.
Then there's the Caught Up list, where I'm waiting for new seasons to drop. Some of them have dates in brackets which mark when they will finish dropping their final episode of the current season. Those I will put into the rotation on those dates.
The movie list has changed gradually as I've watched most of the classics, and then added some of the newer stuff that's been coming out. Yes, I'm going to watch the new Minions movie; it's getting good reviews, even though I haven't seen any of the previous Despicable Me/Minions movies. And yes, there's a chunk of kids stuff/animation in the movie list; I like animation, and I'm not going to apologize for that.

Just a quick note on your (excessively!!!) long list of tv shows : while I did enjoy Stargate : SG-1 and the spiritual/off-the-wall themes that it naturally and simply introduces, I did find its somewhat campy nature a bit off-putting... Of course I only got a feel for your tastes and my opinion is not a widely shared one, but Stargate Universe is much more darker in tone, existential and has deeper (and more interesting) characters, as opposed to SG-1 cartoonish ones. Again, my 2 cents, but Stargate Universe is one of my top 10 shows and it was an absolute disappointment when the show got cancelled, as the plot was just thickening and getting mightily metaphysically interesting!!!
And what do the numbers in () following the watched shows mean?

I thought that SG-1 might be a little goofy. My friend Will is a big fan, and he often makes allowances for cheese in movies and shows if the genre is Sci-Fi. His wife Octavia; on the other hand, enjoys calling the Stargate alien race the Ass-Guard, instead of Asgard, which I'm sure mildly infuriates Will, as that is Octavia's general design whenever she's kidding around with him.
She's been known to hum the Hamster Dance or sing the Song that Never Ends over and over until Will gives in and tells her to knock it off. I think it's funny, but daily exposure to that might change my mind.
The numbers in parentheses next to the finished shows are the total number of episodes in the series, not counting specials or movies. I thought it would be fun to keep a tally of the number of episodes I've watched since I started this project, and that total is currently 2971, not counting active shows.
My parents also enjoy Strictly Come Dancing. Or did you mean something else?
Santa Clarita Diet!
Yes, I liked the first episode a lot.
Not a great night for work at the casino: After being up a hundred or so, I lost a number of small and medium pots towards the end of my poker session and ended up down $191, which was more than I thought I should be stuck, but those pots added up, I guess.
On the slots, I found a higher limit play for 888 credits per spin, the number 8 chosen because it signifies good luck in certain East Asian cultures. Ironically, the play was at the 5c denomination, so each spin was $44.40, the number 4 signifying very bad luck in those same cultures. Along with that, I had 4 spins to try to hit the feature payout, and I whiffed completely on that and on any line pays as well.
Fortunately I triple-popped a Rich Little Piggies on the last play of the night and walked away +$223 on the slots after 4.5 hours. The slot sun run continues.

on every hand, where a normie was dealt a full house or better on the previous hand and cashed out without knowing what was going on. I've found two of those in three years; won moderately on both but didn't hit the Big Score.
A normie hit that machine last week for $15k, though I didn't catch the denom he was playing. It's one on which you can choose $880 spins.

I could still get a One Touch Ban & Clean for a bad Minions review.
You haven't heard of the novel Jack Ketchum by the anonymous young woman who lives close to me?
