droopy 2026 WSOP 6-14 to 6-20
Starting my 2026 journal - here’s 2024 and 2025(too lazy to start a new report last year)
We still here, mincash locked up. Below average with 130k but enough to find a spot and get in the chips to build a stack.
Shoved a couple open ended straight draws, first one got called light with his high, which was the correct call and got there on the river. Second one a different guy gave me respect and folded. Said he thought I had two pair when he had overpair.
Still in the fold - coming from dinner to 4/8/8 with about 120k. Moved tables a couple times and just moved to this one. Will look for a double up opportunity to shove when I still have enough chips to get some respect and get a stack if they call.
BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Said hi to feelwrath right before last break. Glad to at least make a brief hello.
Good luck!!!
Still in during break after Level 18. Getting short, peaked at 260k and now 143k coming back to 6/12/12. Time to find a spot. Have had very few solid hands. Bluffed missed straight draw on river that I didn’t need which would’ve saved 30k.
There’s a couple 300-400 pay jumps it those are nothing compared to value of more chippies and a bag for tomorrow.
Early position jams, folds to me on button with 10-10 and 173k blinds 6/12/12. I think for a moment and put it in ( he covers).
Flop 4-6-8. Turn 7. River…..K. Would’ve had 380 and in a good spot. Gotta win your flips/ all ins. I did 3 times earlier so maybe was due.
Did ladder up a spot (which didn’t really play into decision at all - I knew I needed a spot and there it was). 3, 160 payout.
No regrets (of course some botched hands). This tourney was a lot of fun again.
Even though I wasn’t super close to any big $$ winning that pot would’ve had me in the game. Always stinks to bust even if I ran well and cashed.
No poker tonight for sure - looking forward to a shower (Silver section hotter than balls all day) and some needed sleep.
I really do enjoy the nuances of tournament poker. I need to get better at the technical aspects and GTO. problem - don’t play online and while local tourneys like WSOP circuit and MSPT are around I just don’t have/make time. My sessions are cash on eeekend nights. Maybe in future I’ll have more free time (done with job) but until then, maybe some study and WSOP it is.
I don’t fly out for 3 days. Massage tomorrow after a workout and likely cash games. May shift to fly home Friday if possible. Or not 😀

Grats on the cash! It's always bittersweet getting knocked out but in the long run cashes are great! Well done.
Congrats on the cash!
It isn’t easy cashing a WSOP event.

Nice to meet you mate and congrats on the cash.
Such a weird ladder structure for this one. So much work to do after the bubble. Not sure I like it tbh.
There’s a Wynn Seniors tomorrow. I reckon you dive into that - I would be if I was around
If you don’t do that and are around. I’ll be playing some poker in the Horseshoe poker room from 12-4 ish if you fancy throwing some chips around?
Good luck.

That structure is odd for sure - gotta last until the very end to really get the $. A fix would be to only pay 10-12% instead of the 15% but don’t see that happening. I’m sure the higher percentage of field then is really attractive to a number of the players. Guy next to me from South Dakota was talking about how his dad buys him in to these tournaments. He was happy to min cash as he said he was 0 for four going into this so his dad can see some return and continue to buy him in. I would hope that’s not the typical of most senior players needing a stake.
I actually did go back to the room to wind down (a heated up cinnamon roll from the café downstairs was my choice) and looked at the list of tournaments the next couple days just to see. I saw the Wynn 1100 and gave it a little thought, but I was a little spoiled by the early structure at the WSOP seniors and didn’t think I wanted to commit to jumping an tournament right away not knowing if I would get some decent rest.
I went ahead and booked a massage here this morning at 9 AM. I think I’m going to keep it. I’m ready to wander to some other properties next couple days - Bellagio with the new cash buy ins at 1-3 and 2-5, Venetian and Wynn. Wynn brunch buffet has been a past go to for me, on my list for tomorrow.
I may swing by the Shoe today and say hi
Spent yesterday with a chill morning - slept a bit better and quick workout and massage. Wandered to Bellagio to check out cash 1-3 or 2-5. The list were long and I forgot when you look at bravo Bellagio only shows the people checked in and not the call ins. I did actually try to call the number a couple times, but it rang and rang and rang.
I did get called fairly quickly for 13 and said I wanna stay on the 25 list but got put out in sports book seating. I asked the brush out there if I would get notified if my 25 seat available and he said you’re supposed to, but didn’t give a lot of confidence. I just had the feeling that I would’ve needed to grease either him or someone upfront to keep an eye on that. And while I understand tipping culture and don’t have a problem doing it when appropriate something about the way Bellagio carries themselves in regard to that turns me off of a bit.
The game was only so so and I played probably a C minus to D plus game. Well, I normally pay cash. My mindset was almost 2 free with starting hand selection and even stakes after playing and some high-level spots in a big tournament. It took me five hours to realize I needed to step away from that game and grab something to eat. I’ve heard good things about a couple of the restaurants outside horseshoe in the food court. The Taco Pl., Mediterranean place came recommended and as I wandered through I noticed there’s also an Asian place right next-door to the Mediterranean place which had a long line. I went into the Asian place and was seated right away and ordered a rice bowl with chicken and some vegetables which was something I was thinking would be good. I thought it was very good and for the $20 price tag given the strip in the area we were I thought was pretty good value. You can also order carryout and Service was quick despite them being pretty full.
It was only about 10 o’clock and I went and jumped in a 13 game at the WSOP, which was another error and judgment as my play didn’t improve and I was really tired. Cut that off after an hour or so and headed up to sleep.
I have also found a sore throat and maybe developing what I call the Vegas ick. My sleep felt pretty solid and approached eight hours. My Garmin also says my body score is 98. I used to get sinus infections pretty easily and would get especially irritated by the dry air in the desert and the lack of sleep. A couple years ago I had balloon rhinoplasty done, and that helped open up my sinuses, plus I bring my humidifier for the room and try to manage sinus irritation as best I can out here so even if there is something developing, I’ll just make sure to get enough rest and stay hydrated and I should be fine.
Not going to work out this morning, but will walk to the wind where I pre-booked 1130 seating for the buffet. Plan will be to play poker likely after that either at the win or the Venetian depending on seating. I was looking at the win list yesterday on PokerAtlas and it seemed like very a few tables were open and huge list. I’m guessing that depends on what tournaments they are running as well for dealer availability. Or that’s just how it is and maybe I won’t be playing at the Wynn.
Departure day - slept in to after 8:30 so about 8 1/2 hours. Definitely battling sinus infection start but sleep and hydrate should stave it off.
Played 1-3 at Wynn for over 9 hours. Lost a big pot early on in 3 way all in with QQ. Flopped set but AK turned gutter ball. Battled back but booked $400 loss. Game was pretty dusty for most of the day. I’ll recap my thoughts on Vegas cash games post trip.
Playing 2-5 back at bellagio - seats open, close to Paris. So far game seems OK.
