My brain hasn't adjusted yet for the fact that knockout stage in the world cup always involved at least one good team (team finishing 1st in their group) and now we just have to get used to knockout football between 2 mediocre nations being a regular thing in a 48-team tournament
de Fudge Rolls gets it right again. I continue to think he's good. That five minutes of back-and-forth imo proves that what South Africa has done so far is right. Too much opportunity for Canada when it opens up.

yeah, maybe it was the right strategy for them, but playing for pens from minute 1 is pretty dreadful stuff (especially against lolcanada). we'll almost certainly get smoked by netherlands/morocco, but at least south africa won't be able to ruin another game. we'll go down flailing
