Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread
We have the fine dining thread, but everyone needs some good casual places to eat, either on the strip or local. I'm fi
those fries are a hell yeah from me.
guessing they would have been great with just some s&p
Got a group of 7 coming into town on a Saturday
Staying 1 night at a downtown hotel and 4 nights at an Airbnb
We'll have a few hours to kill between hotel checkout and house checkin on Sunday.
Perfect timing for a long hangout / killer brunch. Looking for:
A) Off-strip location
B) Bottomless Mimosas a big plus for some of our group
C) Highest Quality Food (we don't really care about Karen service level BS)
Any suggestions?
Tried the Hat pastrami on rainbow (South of Russell ) for the first time. Lines are usually an hour plus so waited half that by going at 3pm on a Monday.
As someone who lived 30 years plus a couple blocks away from Katz deli on Ludlow (in NYC) I gotta say it doesn't measure up.
Their pastrami dip sandwich was good but dry. I usually like it with mustard and mayo (I once got kicked out a pastrami joint for asking for mayo) ,so that made it taste better. Would def go again for the pastrami dip but it made me miss Katz even more ..
As for the chili cheese fries. Def did not like it. Def a skip imo.

Btw, solid rec for Chilangos Tacos just outside Horseshoe in the Bazaar Shops. Really flavorful and fresh. Costra taco is fantastic. Salsa is pretty spicy so be a bit cautious.
Wanted to go to Wild Fig for first time, called ahead, all they have is turkey and chicken, lol. Glad I called ahead.
If they only have those two meats, I’m not ordering.
Went to Big B’s instead. Wasn’t great, wasn’t awful. Beef rib sucked, brisket wasn’t great, tri tip probably best thing, pork ribs/chicken/sausage were all pretty strong. Good fries, good potato salad. Definitely not the best BBQ in Vegas but I can’t imagine anyone saying it was.

They probably sold out of everything else by the time you called. You can see what’s available on the website, the stock updates in real time.
Here’s some Lucky Cat BBQ from tonight, $30 with tip and enough for two people:

I’ve had Lucky Cat, wasn’t all that impressed. I wouldn’t say that’s enough for 2 people either.
Still haven't had Vegas bbq I've thought was amazing. Soul belly probably my favorite. Also bbq generally seems way overpriced.
Went to special Noodle on spring mountain. Soup dumplings, green beans, and beef wrap were great. Pork belly noodles and dough fried soup dumplings were decent but not as great.

Yeah, Soul Belly has been the best I’ve had. Had it be great, had it be meh.
I drove by Special Noodle the other day and it piqued my interest…might have to check it out.
I think the dough dumplings could be great but they stay piping hot way too damn long. I want to eat them now not in fifteen minutes.
If anyone wants new BBQ spots to check out I would very highly recommend Smoked Stupid and Smoke Show BBQ (Henderson). Both have phenomenal wings and everything I’ve had at both places has been great.
I follow competition bbq as I was a kcbs cbj, and I'm not sure if it's a paid promo (maybe as it's social media), but Christie Vanover (Team Girl can Grill/ Organizer of BBQ Jackpot) and Steve (Stevo BBQ, Sponsored by blue hog, cooked at Memphis in May & the Jack) gave a shout-out to Jessie Raes for "The Fortress" for being a unique dish.
I ate there a while back and remember it being much better than rolling smoke and big bs, but that's not saying much. They had a few different sauces worth trying, including a white sauce.
I remember saying, "This is good. Too bad it's far from me. If I'm out this way and want bbq, this is a solid spot."
Yeah, I like Jessie Rae’s and their white sauce is amazing, but it was too far away unfortunately.
I’m not bluffing the dude who brought Checkers to the poker room.
Yep I walked past that one last week and thought it was toppy for a food court burger.
Managed to not eat a burger during 8 days in Vegas which surprised me

A pastrami sandwich at Katz's is $29.
Maybe the old saying that you get what you pay for holds up?
Two banger meals at Jipata this week. I don’t want it to get busy but I do want it to stay open. Seriously this place is awesome.
I shouldn’t red this when fasting.
