Let's talk about Stream and buy mountains of games
I thought we might like to have a Steam offers catch-all thread, and maybe even any general discussion about the service
Hot take, RDR2 is awesome but I love RDR1 more.
The second is a true feat of game engineering, definitely the best western simulator of all time. However, I really enjoy the spaghetti western vibe of the first game and the emergent gameplay has better longevity. Plus, Undead Nightmare is a blast.
I'm hooked on Red Dead 2, the slow pacing early is exactly what I want in a game. I was afraid it would be like my experience playing Resident Evil 4 or Elden Ring or any game that is way too difficult for me.
The demo of Normal Golf Game is the most fun I've had playing golf on the PC in awhile.

I'm a bit of a nit when it comes to golf games, so rather than spending time downloading the demo only to be annoyed, can I ask what it is that makes it fun? My read of it was that it created a genuinely challenging yet rewarding way of addressing and striking the ball and that in and of itself is a huge achievement (if true). It appears to then go into the weeds and do all sorts of non-golf things for genuinely no discernible reason. Is it the first part that makes it fun or the second part? If it's the second part, I genuinely have zero interest in the game (I'm a golf nit), but if it's the first, I could be persuaded to give it a try (and ultimately be incredibly frustrated that I have to deal with all the silliness rather than just play golf, probably, but whatever).

I would say I enjoyed both of the things you're talking about. It is definitely challenging and has a difficult to master physics model that requires you to juggle a whole host of factors like club angle and spin, power, stance etc, much like if you were a normal person playing real golf and struggling to do 10 things at once. As opposed to most golf games in my experience that are designed to make you feel like you're Tiger Woods almost immediately.
Once you've gotten the basics down it does go off into various tasks that are sometimes silly, like getting your ball to strike a gong or land in a giant toilet bowl. For me that was fun too because it still requires you to shape different kinds of shots to hit a particular target using the skills that you've been working on. I haven't gotten far enough into it to where it simply lets you play a round of golf, and I'm not sure if that's even in the demo. I believe the released game will have that capability though.
Hope that helps.
It does very much. Thank you. I'll probably give the demo a shot.
