I work at a company with 150,000+ people and you occasionally see it in an email signature or added to a webex name but it’s never a point of contention. Probably because normal people don’t care about things like that.
I have friends who lose their minds over land acknowledgments, which I’ve never personally experienced, and does seem a bit silly, but also you make 300k a year. If that’s your biggest problem at work then maybe you should just shut the **** up about it but here we are
Before I retired I was part of a small group that interviewed and helped management decide on programmer new hires. We hired one such person that lozen assumes would be a trouble employee. She was anything but. Great programmer and really fit in with the group.
I'd rather hire that person than a confirmed bigot any day.
Both have the potential to cause trouble for HR so probably shouldn't hire either of them.
I thought the "pronouns nonsense" came and went. I am out of the loop as far as business goes these days, but does anyone make a point of pointing out their preference anymore
It's quite common in a lot of Serious Adult Jobs, comes in handy now and then when someone has an unfamiliar foreign name. I'm genuinely surprised some of you think it went away.
Work for a national non-profit supported by federal grants. Nearly everyone shared their pronouns in their email sig but last year out of caution we had everyone remove them so we wouldn't give any obvious reason to lose funding.
Ironically, our one outspoken republican (due to religion) lost her job because the funding that paid for her salary was cut. Oops.
I'm not a fan of putting he/him in my sig but makes no difference to me if others do because I'm not a snowflake.
Edit: I just checked my trans co-worker's sig and they still have it and that makes me smile.
