Update April 2018

OK Vlogger Thread, we are going with some new parameters to try to make this the POSITIVE vlogger thread that it is supposed to be, not the AIDS vlogger thread where a few loonies ruin it for the rest. Note that 'positive' does not equal 'only positive', it means anything negative being said CAN'T be namecalling or wild, unsubstantiated speculation regarding any and all vloggers. Personal lives and anything aside from poker is OFF THE TABLE.

A new update March 2019:
NO ****ING POLITICS!
In today's episode of Abby Poker it starts in the Borgata room wherein Abby has Corey try on some of her outfits.
Rice's world is working the WSOP and hiding in Mom's basement.
Why would you expect anything else?
in the latest Poker With a Purpose vlog, our favorite zen guru explains how he called a preflop raise with a low pocket pair, flopped a set and wins the hand on a queen high board with no straights or flushes possible
He played more aggressively in some of those hands than I expected (mostly PF but still 4-betting with hands like A7o and K7o isn’t something a lot of Vegas regs would do, and most people will just say “fold pf”😉.
He does seem like he has better control of his emotions than most. I wonder what his bankroll is.
Bart calls 2+2 trash and then talks about how he likes Reddit
I was part of r/poker for a month or two but that is a bigger cesspool of negativity than even twitter
I'm not too offended by his comment of 2+2, LVL is the only place I visit. I think most poker discussion boards are awful anyway
I can't stand Bart or Dave. I think they are both pompous *******s who are bad for the game.
Bart demeans $1/2 and $1/3 players like they have no clue what they are doing. It's disgusting. Players gotta start somewhere. And DT does the same. His analysis on HCL is cringe. I mute it when he is on.

Overall is he wrong though?
Obviously people starting out need to start somewhere. but does some guy who has been playing 1/2 for ten years know what he's doing? He's obviously playing for fun or a complete moron if he's struggling to profit.
If he thinks he knows what he is doing he's clueless.

Why? A $1/2 and $1/3 player can be a winner and have a good understanding of the game. Maybe they only play once or twice a week and are playing socially and still winning? What about players in Texas where there are fewer $2/5 games because $1/3 plays so deep?
If your room has 5 $1/2 games and 1 $2/5 game you have no game selection if your ego says you can't play $1/2.

There are exceptions to the rule, you are correct. But generally speaking, the player pool at 1/2 and 1/3 is just way less sophisticated than 2/5. That’s only gotten more true as fewer and fewer rooms regularly spread 5/10, which means even more good players at 2/5 when the bigger game isn’t running.
Again, it’s no knock on people who play 1/2 and 1/3, who often want to just have a good time. In fact, I sometimes like to sit 1/3 with 500 max when I’m not in a mood to battle. Here in Boston, it plays pretty similar to how 2/5 was before buyins started to go up after the pandemic. A lot of former 2/5 players stick to the smaller game now, though, because 2/5 has gotten more difficult. I like to grind 2/5 because the battle is what motivates me since I’m not a pro, but my personal opinion is that it is way tougher today than it was five years ago.

i'm unfamiliar with bart much beyond a few youtube shorts which feel very reasonable (he seems to know what he's talking about) and have no idea whoever dt is and even if you said who that was by name i still probably would have no clue who that is
but that aside
i used to play mid stakes back in the day (5/10-10/25 with occasional shot taking at 25/50)
after so much time off i'm getting back into poker again and playing 1/2 and 1/3 for a while until i feel comfortable again - trying to string together several sessions in a row where i don't think i made a bunch of significant blunders before i move up and have yet to accomplish that (but a few times i've gotten close)
1/2 and 1/3 players are absolute garbage - it's shocking how bad they are
even the "good" players are absolutely trash who only succeed because those they are up against are that much worse
good players don't stay in 1/2 & 1/3 because it's a rake trap - they'll dip down when they don't the lineups or on downswings and busto but they never stay there
played hundreds of hours at those stakes the past 5 months, i can count with two hands how many good players i felt like have been at the same table as me during that time - it's not uncommon for me to finish a 9 hour session and remark that i didn't face a competent player all night
I take it today's Rice video is a re-run with not even his usual fake poker play, which is why I won't give it a click.
Rice is guaranteed to set a record for most poker rooms visited with least amount of poker played on this road trip back to Vegas.
I doubt Rice averages 30 minutes of fake poker play per poker room he visits.

for the record: I like Bart Hanson. he's articulate and specific, and there are few poker commentators that are better. he's a good player, and I like his videos.

Wouldn’t his hotel, food and car costs basically negate any Youtube income he is getting? Seems like an absolute waste of time and effort.

He is pretty much always spot on with his hand analysis in the CLP hand call ins, and seems to be very well calibrated regardig what is going on at the table.
I play mostly PLO these days and half/half games, but i check out his call ins videos regurarly to keep me updated on the NL stuff.
i always enjoyed barts articles in card player. So much so that I saved several in my files.

ELD is using the youtube revenue and comps to support his Nomadic existence and thus being able to have a vehicle and hotel is the purpose of the Nomadic Method.
Hi! Thanks for the recommendations, I will have to try it! I like Fire´n Diamonds and Midas Dynasty by Tom Horn Gaming, I´ve had big fun in there, something very useful is to follow streamers like DiceGirl Egle expert slot streamer on Twitch, have a nice day
our favorite Aussie Asian female poker vlogger does part 2 of her trip to China where she visited a lot of touristy places and ate a lot of good food
Really interesting watching ED travel across the country and get to see all the different chairs in various poker rooms, including the materials, color, levers, etc.
WOW:
I thought you were joking about ED's video content.
You are not.
I was shocked & amazed at what I saw. How the chairs have levers to adjust height. How the chairs are very slightly higher in the front than in the rear....and what a problem this might present over a long playing session.
I took a look at the comments for the video. It appears that some other people do not exactly find this to be "high quality". ED immediately starts calling them miserable haters.
I would think that ED (at some point) would be jeopardizing his videos & monetization IF he calling out anyone who disagrees with him, posts and negative comment, or even questions something that he does. A little of this probably makes no difference, but his chair videos now seem to be getting a LOT of negative comments from viewers. Is this what the YouTube wants?
I've seen all I need to see about chairs and the quality & color of the table's felt. I won't be seeing any in the future.
I would wager I am not the only one.

It doesn't cost him much to stop at a casino for 15 minutes. If they charge for parking, he can always park down the street. He gets a whole video out of it instead of talking about some inane detail about a stupid game like baseball.

Yeah, but he only puts hands on his show where the guy made mistakes, or played it well but got unlucky.

I wouldn't say Diesel is the sharpest knife in the drawer, much like his Swiss army knife, but he is smart enough to notice that if a certain video type gets a bad number of views, he quits making that type. Of course it takes 2 or 3 videos for people to discover "cripes, another chair video" and quit watching.

I think ELD said he gets nearly $1000 per month from youtube which is enough to pay for all his hotel costs and then have money leftover.
I don’t recall Bart being that demeaning towards low stakes players and never thought he came across as arrogant.
He does think it’s important for anyone taking the game seriously to move up the the $5 blind level, but a big reason for that is the rake, especially in a place like California which has a really high rake and lower buy-ins.
I think he also doesn’t want players to be stuck at 1-2 and 1-3 forever.
