Just had to collect my 15yo son early from a Halloween party as he was falling down drunk

Literally had to carry him out and into my car and then the same at home and out him fully clothed (with vomit on them) into bed

Good for the young lad to learn an early lesson about the dangers of drinking hard liquor!

He has to run his own journey of course but some intervention seems wise given his mom's alcohol issues.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd start with him having to wash everything.

For sure he’s gonna have to wash everything and pay some other penance but while I understand the point, there’s no way I’m gonna put his mother’s issues into this right now. Way too heavy and inappropriate.

I want him to learn how to use and enjoy alcohol and learn the lessons about not making yourself look stupid/be vulnerable in public. He’s got my gene if anything - go too hard/not fear the consequences. I actually think this is a good lesson for him, so those are the lectures he’s gonna hear from me.

I read in the NPR (a fine publication) that a furloughed IRS lawyer had opened a hot dog stand in Washington DC.

Meanwhile, “BigSkip” is spending his time on a message board posting messages like sup.

Love you too, scooter.

I do not miss the hangovers from cheap booze.

Waking up sick and hungover, realising that your mates all watched you being carried out unconscious by your father, and then being forced to clean up your own vomit, that's a decent lesson in consequences.

Of course I have the intelligence to do almost anything, but I lack the experience and qualifications. And I don't have time.

And I was extremely successful in the past so lifestyle creep is real. I live in an expensive area and my rent is $3400.

None of this would be an issue if I could just run "normal," but life has a funny way of being unfair like that.

Super late getting back, I was in trial which is like living on an ISS that has diner food. Your first win should be breaking off that landlord screwjob. You probably can't get cheap because Lol LA but it doesn't have to be extortion.

Real estate popped into my mind as an industry that has a lot of independent minded and self-motivated people. But make sure that you find someone honest who would mentor you. With so many people trying to do the same thing, it's stressful and probably less fair than poker.

you’re a saint too! meh im doing fine but I’d like to assist with a cure for autism someday if I ever bink something big it’s seriously so brutal for others in less fortunate situations that its lifelong for those that have it and didn’t receive the appropriate care in the early stages of life. I think because I’ve been on the road for a while now driving many thousands of mile

Well you are not dependent on routine if you are roaming the continent.

Cute pics and I will abstain from my favorite pun.

Here's an old COTW where a magician goes through a lot of the tricks of the trade.

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/69/on...

in online 4rum? I guess he explains that.

The Penn&Teller poker cheating book is worth the price just for the voice of the narrator. He refers you to another book for the technical details, probably not Penn himself. I.e. near the end he goes on a screaming rant about how he can't take it anymore cheating Hollywood celebs because they always preach about 'their art.'

SABR,

if you want me to write a testimonial or recommendation for you as a poker coach, I'd be more than happy to do it. I've learned a great deal just from reading your posts and HH's shared over the many years.

TY TY.

I'll try to get around to setting that up. Been grinding like 10 hours a day lately.

Did the World Series generate any excitement on the bottom half of North America or did no one care? Up here it was pretty well followed and a tough pill to swallow.

Big-market team bought another WS. Ho-hum, yawn,

It is widely reviewed by "experts" as one of the best (if not the best) world series of all time.

It generated the most tv watchers in the US since 2017 - and if you look at the 2025 MLB Season Thread on 2+2 you'll see a lot of action mostly from Dodger haters/Blue Jay fans. I personally was glued to the screen.

I've been a Dodgers fan for about 50 years since I was in little league and they finally beat the Yankees in 1955. So I loved the outcome. But also I loved the compete of the Blue Jays and would have been fine if they had won.

Yeah, wasn't really sure how much excitement it was causing elsewhere because I'm enveloped in obviously very biased media up here. Watched more regular season games this year than I have in a ~decade so I was well invested in the team. Kinda heart breaking loss given the amount of opportunities they had to win the series (not only in game 7, but missed opportunities in game 6 and the 18 inning game as well). The sting has worn off a bit and I'm sure I'll be left with fond memories (lol, if my memory holds), although am fearing a bit that this was a lightning-in-a-bottle team (i.e. next year could be very different).

I watched a lot of it and it was very compelling. I wanted the Blue Jays to win but for a Goliath, somehow, I don’t despise the dodgers like i would the Yankees or Red Sox.

I somehow missed the entire World Series. I kept thinking I should watch some of it but never did.

I feel the same. No hatable players

Tbh though, I quite like super teams and I find the forced parity of US sports to be quaint commie bs

It's not like the Jay's haven't thrown around money. They legit courted Ohtani, gave half a billion to Vlady, and have the 5th highest payroll. Kinda get the feeling Bichette isn't going to be here next year.

I'll be very surprised if the Jays don't resign Bichette - he and Vlady have been close buddies since the minor leagues according to what I've read.

Lack of a real salary cap and distribution networks controlling revenue splits and then ultimately the amount a team can spend is pretty shitty.

Signed an angry fan of a team spending bout tree fiddy times less than the super teams.

I have no knowledge other than him and Vlad being tight. Why do you expect them not to bring back Bichette?

Need a salary floor >>>> cap imo, I’ll refrain from arguing why cuz it’s been beaten to death obv
