In law you calculate prejudgment interest on the debt from when it first becomes due. It gets bigger the longer the lawyers drag out the case.

I made the (extremely niche) bestsellers list! As of yesterday, my book was #44 on Amazon's "slavery and emancipation history" bestsellers. Huh!
My book does discuss slavery a bit, mostly comparing and contrasting chattel slavery with the "ransom slavery" practiced in the Mediterranean at the time, but it's hardly a main theme of my book. They don't have a Barbary Wars bestseller list, though, so I guess I'll take what I can get. It's like #5,000 in US history and I doubt it will ever make it to three digits there.
Seen someone do something at the poker table last week that I've never seen someone else do before (I've done it myself 4 times in ~6700 hours of 1/3 NL):

Crapload of limps to me and I $30 with KK in the CO with a $400 stack. I can't recall what kind of session I was having, but likely folding 99% of hands and not doing much, so my typical rock image, although IIRC I've table changed to this table only an ~hour ago.
Button is a guy I don't think I've played with before, or if I have then not much. Been very quiet in the hour or so I've been here, nursing a larger stack than mine and not doing much of anything or even saying a word. Seems ABC / fitfold / face up / not getting OOL. He quickly cuts out the $30 and then starts thinking about assembling other chips. Ug, gross spot for me. But then he eventually just calls.
Shortstack action player in the BB (the main reason for my table change) shoves for $120.
I think I actually make a mistake at this point and re-shove for $400. I got super enticed by the hugenormous dead money, but at the same time I'm allowing QQ- to play perfectly behind me. Anyhoo, that's what I did.
Dude tanks. Eventually sighs, then shows me the other KK, and mucks.
Pretty sure that's the first time I've seen someone else fold KK at the table. Of course to me, lolz.

I have done it before. Somewhat regularly is a vague term, but it might be like a once a year thing at most if you play a lot.
Lots of variables. I know there are places where it's 1/3 but every hand is straddled and ave stack is 1,500.
If someone is folding kk to a big limp reraise for example, it's obvious what to do.

Folding there is a bad play, as is moving all in.
Lots of replies here advocating a raise more or less to "find out where you're at." Also bad.
If you raise small and he jams, sure, you can make a case for folding kk. But that doesn't make you one of the best players. It means you let all his worse hands off the hook, surrendered your equity and put yourself in a hard spot.
In other words, you shouldn't be creating situations where you have to fold the second nuts very often. Not only because folding 2nd nuts sucks, but because you're probably letting most weaker hands know they just have a bluff catcher.
also everyone fears folding certain hands and getting "exploited", however.. unless you fold face up, nobody has a ****ing clue of what you're actually folding.
It's a 1/2 NL thread so I didn't comment cuz I try to contain all of my AIDSy responses to just the 1/3 NL threads.

For the non-historian/grad students, you might want to skip over the intro chapter, which is where all the nerdery is concentrated, and just start with chapter one. I swear it's a better read after that intro.
If you like, you can always come back to the intro afterward and see the nerd-fight.
