Agree with the feelings on Nov 9, it wasn't the worst idea but the current status quo of a full days rest then have the FT is way better imo. I never really got hyped up for the Nov 9 but I'm looking forward to see if Margets/Grinder can do it tomorrow.
Actually I tell a lie, the year Ivey made the November 9 (2009) there was a big buzz around leading up to it but that was more the fact he made it than the concept of a delay.
Maybe in the discussion for live pros but Lol no not even close if you ask people who are actually skilled at mtts it has to be long term online end bosses they will say someone like Simon Mattsson or Niklas Astedt. These guys play more mtt hands per year than Mizrachi played in a decade and real poker players know sample size is everything.

Declining viewership, which more importantly means declining revenue on ads. The boom ran out of gas simply put.
I’ll predict Dunaway finishes 2nd. The winner will be:
Grinder 50%
Hallaert 30%
Leo 15%
Field 5%
Probably should reverse the Leo-field numbers but I’m a romantic.

Grinder is good but doubt he's even the best (no limit) tourney player at the final table (probably Hendrix)
Nothing against Tamayo but holy cow he did nothing to boost the game's popularity or engagement. Robotic boring Asian guy who had his rail use solvers and is good friends with McKeehen (arguably the least likable main event winner in history). The entire FT was boring GTO pros, no compelling story lines or interesting characters.
You should have lots against Tamayo.
TBF even if he didn't blatantly cheat he'd obviously have done nothing to boost poker's popularity. It's a pretty mature market at this point and I don't even think a woman winning would do much but I hope I'm wrong if she does win.

The record for highest finish by a woman is 5th place by Barbara Enright in 1995. She has a recent stack, so a good shot of breaking that record.
Grinder has the dream seat, sandwiched between the two recs, CL to his right, shortie to his left.
If Lee busts, and Bojovic or Hendrix pick up chips, it could be a problem later on.
Manghini has shown his ability to ninja, navigating sub 20bb for an eternity to get here.
He comes in with the most freedom to go for it and I think he will.
I agree with all of this. Grinder has a really great seat with the bigger stacks to his right.
With grinder being second in chips and his style of basically no fear, he has a real shot to win this.
He could knock out four people in the first hour or he could even bust n the first hour, that's just his style of play. I don't think he'll be looking to ladder much at all compared to the other players.
I think margets will be able to ladder up a few spots, she seems to be very passive and conservative. I like that she decided to take that flip with the jacks earlier to give her a real shot at making the top five. She will have to open up her game a bit though at some point if she wants to win.

He resembled at the time a little bit like Ben Tollerene now. He was an all around crusher though at the time. Wish I remembered his name.

Ok did some digging in 2004-2006 WPT results and found him. It was Chris McCormack.

Yeah looking back, last year was actually terrible. Jordan Griff had the amateur story but he was kind of a boring guy. The only big known guy was an online Euro crusher, who's not exactly going to be too appealing.

also worth keeping an eye on is the largest ever cash for a woman in any event. Currently held by Liv Boeree for her 4th place finish in the WSOP Paradise Super Main Event in December for $2.8 million. Margets needs to finish 4th or better to break that record.
Ok let’s make some predictions about how this final table will go.
I expect the grinder to push the action and largely run over the table. But I do predict a big misstep at some point by being overly aggressive in the wrong spot. But the question is… who at the table could punish him for that mistake? Only Hendrix and Hallaert I think
Hendrix will be dangerous if he accumulates chips. I bet he will try to get his stack into middle range rather than allow it slip down to short stack.
Dunaway and Wasnock are the wildcards with big stacks. Dunaway with a bit more experience with his monster stack win. But outside of that not a TON more experience than Wasnock. It’ll be interesting to see how the middle stacks approach hands with those two.
The short stacks (Lee 22bb, Minghini 16) are not super short, so they can wait a bit before pushing.
