The best spite gift OAT is a lathe.

there's so much happening here and it's all awesome

it ain't much, but it's honest work

such an awesome video. love the kid and what a happy time he's having, but how about the pup just gently leading the way but then waiting to check he's coming....and behaving himself with the ducks and rabbits

That is what people need to get back to. All I can do is my part.

Climb a tree and get back to nature.

mets is banned I think.

Who's the active poster with the most posts or is mets so far ahead 2p2 will be dead before anyone can catch mets.

Suzzer is over 100k.

Kioshk is pretty close too.

Why do people make things so difficult? (Myself included, as will be shown).

A small check showed up the other day in my late mother's name. Apparently she was a plaintiff in some class-action lawsuit about a data breach, and got a settlement out of that.

Being somewhat honest, instead of just shoving it in the ATM, I saw somebody at the bank. I brought along a copy of her death certificate, a copy of the document showing that I was the representative of her estate, and a copy of the estate closure document. (This all happened in late 2018 into 2019).

Guy at the bank says they can't cash it, I'll have to get the check reissued. I should be able to call the attorney's office handling the claim and get it done.

On the cover letter, there's a phone # to call. They ask me to send in some documents, and I do.

~10 days later, I get a form email that says to send in proof of heirship. I call them to make sure I've got the correct document queued up. They tell me that I should send a copy of the death certificate, a copy of the estate closure, proof of heirship, and a note from my brother stating it's OK to make the check out to me, and we'll split it.

Got the exact same form email today. Called them up, and Jose tells me the check can only be reissued to the estate. I point out that is no more good to me than the check I have now, as it's something I cannot cash. He asks if I'd like to be transferred to a supervisor.

Got to Nicole, who seemed very nice. Explained the problem to her. She got it, but it sounds as if she's pretty powerless. She said she'd put a note in saying that the check needs to be reissued to me. I also asked her, and she said she would, to add to the note something like: if there's additional information they need, do not just send me a form email. Be specific about what you require.

Let's hope Nicole can come through. The struggle to "do it right" is way not worth the amount of the check.

*sigh* What a PITA!

I had a similar issue come up several months ago. The tail end of my exchange with the check issuing people went like this.

Me: I can't cash or deposit the check the way it's made out. Could you please make it out to ...

Them: No. We can't do that. The funds will end up being escheated.

Me: [out loud] OK. I'll deal with that.
[thinking] It will be easier than dealing directly with you jackasses.

I was hoping to read the check is for like $9 or something.

drivers license expires tomorrow
friday 7:45am arrival at the local dmv and by crude guestimates i woke up today in 75th place

made it in the door and quickly felt like an audio tech for a progressive commercial
a few common observations

nobody cares you lost your license while trashed at a hockey match last weekend
the clerk is a civil servant not judge judy
also congratulations spending fifty bucks more for a themed license plate
the three minutes of hearing misguided hunter reasons why you chose smokey bear over elk or salmon habitat was truly enthralling
not all of our customers recite the requirements to recive a real id back at us, but congratulations you finally got them.

I don't know about golddog's, but mine is for a few hundred IIRC.

I recently discovered an unrelated claim at my state's escheated funds deep hole (or whatever the hell they call it) that I am clearly entitled to. However, it was escheated in 1963 or 1964. I'm trying to figure out how many hoops I'm willing to jump through for $5xx. I don't think it's many and they don't make it easy. I would probably have to spend $50 or more just to get the documentation they want. I think I would be a little more motivated if it were for today's cash equivalent of $5xx in 1963.

j/k. That's a terrible perfect storm. I haven't been exactly there, but I've been in the same neighborhood. Some nights is worse than others. Get some sleep and eat well tomorrow!

Looks like the only bowling thread is from 6 years ago from ntanygd. I got the bug a few months ago and go 2-3 x's/week.

Who was the guy that used to go to Vegas and bowl in the big time tournaments? Came from DC area I think. Always had good TRs with bowling and shenanigans.

Buddy of mine used to tell me "Never trust a fart." Later in life, I get what he meant.

Never seen where an overpayment isn't just applied to next month's balance. Strange.
