So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.

Aside from presidential pardons being a stupid concept in general, I don't think anyone really cares about Biden pardoning his son. Everyone else would do the same. Why not. You have his broad power to effectively make people immune from the law. No repercussions either. May as well.

They've estimated, based on the numbers of people w/ guns and that use drugs, that over 20 million people that use drugs bought a firearm and didn't check that box.

I'm not so sure we can say that democracy isn't at risk. We just had someone who almost became President without being selected by voters in a primary. We've got pardons for undisclosed crimes going back 11 years, which is an oddly specific number. We were also assured our President was mentally fit, until it was apparent he isn't. Don't forget that they is still officially serving as President. We don't know who is making the decisions right now. Voters saw these threats to democracy.
The pardon is bad. Of course it's a particularly distasteful kind of elitism. As to his stupid declaration that he wouldn't, then did ... I think that's about him over confident that you know who wouldn't be in power. At that point, with revenge on the upcoming national agenda, he did the corrupt(?) thing to help his son.
