President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

My theory is that everyone left posting on 2p2 has some sort of mental thing going on. Mainly the auts

Why else would you commit to the most antiquated form of internet communication for decade(s)

You recommend that we all migrate to X?

Coordi probably growing weary of herding cats.

I didn't see any attack either. Must be some reading comprehension thingy.

from the context he was stating stuff that was so obvious as if he were talking to an 8 year old - since none of us are 8, to me it felt like it must be specifically to counter a claim of mine he thought i'd made - especially considering it was going along the prior themes from the earlier stuff of "you're not the only polisci major" despite that i wasn't trying to hold that up as any meaningful credential - just pointing it out an indicator of some basic understanding

fwiw i feel like my experience was pretty common in college, by senior year it was fairly common to joke about how it was the most depressing major because you start studying it purely due to interest as no real job prospects are attached to it but by the time we had a decent understanding of how the sausage was made we lost all taste for it - believe it or not, i typically abstain from political discussions irl simply because there's so much nonsense out there that there can't really be a discussion - it's like trying to have a genuine conversation about the historical origins of christmas with an adult who believes santa claus is real

but looks like i was wrong... again 😀 and you have my apologies roc

Twitter had its time. Just like Reddit. Both have jumped the shark.

I think Telegram is probably where the cool kids hang out? It used to be discord. Telegram is basically a shitty Discord so not sure what the appeal is, but I digress.

rick,

Just so you know, this post was not an attack:

by Rococo

rick has a better handle on everyday culture in certain foreign countries than most people here, which isn't irrelevant to interpreting the poliics of those countries. We all are more knowledgeable in certain areas than we are in others. I like to think I am decent on the practical realities of U.S. party politics and political theory, but a guy like tame deuces can run laps

To the contrary, it was a defense of you (albeit a mild one) in response to an explicitly insulting post from coordi that he quickly deleted.

Damn, I'm getting thrown under the bus

Not my intention. You deleted it, which is fine, and I quickly deleted my quote of your post to respect your deletion.

Maybe antiquated is better than new.

There's no character limit here like X, so there is room to write a few paragraphs to explain a point. There is no army of bots like reddit to downvote comments into oblivion and make them invisible.

People may not like my point of view here .... but at least I have the freedom to express it. I'm grateful for that.

And I acknowledge that I fit the neurodivergent profile you suggest.

missed that post you were referencing

kinda felt like going to someone's house to eat thanksgiving dinner and just randomly mentioning that it's really common for the bird to be overdone and dry and not expecting your host to think you're talking about the bird your host cooked

The posts about being contrarian obviously were partly in response to how you were describing yourself, although not exclusively directed at you. The last post that I quoted simply wasn't a criticism of any sort.

Anyone else disappointed about how much the Epstein files seems to have been moved on from?

Anyone else disappointed about the number of morons who think that Orange Child Rapist's name on a heavily redacted piece of paper is going to bring him down, even though Jan 6th and the murder of random, unarmed people on boats did not bring him down?

That's one of the hazards of rage-posting I suppose.

If "we" haven't put forth decent candidates since Obama it's because "we" are collectively becoming stupider and more horrible. No rational human could deduce any other reason for deciding a lying conman rapist criminal should be our leader.

I've been spreading the gospel of "most people are stupid and horrible" for decades, but even I was surprised that Trump won the presidency (both times).

DJT wants to kill all the drug runners (without a trial or evidence) and then pardons the ex-president from Honduras that WAS CONVICTED of being a drug runner. He has some 'splaining to do.

Trump is particularly odd but any one surprised at the general situation in the usa has been wallowing in ignorance for a very long time. If anything Obama was the outliner but if you manage tos nurvive to get anotehr decent president it wont matter in the end if the attitude of doing **** all persists.

Usenet would like to have a word with you.

Trump is a lot of things, but odd isn't the main word I would use to describe him in an American context. If you took every negative stereotype about Americans--materialistic, unduly focused on wealth accumulation, loud, uncouth, unsophisticated, ignorant, arrogant, bombastic, self-centered, provincial, U.S.-centric, etc.--and rolled them all up into one person, you would get something that resembled Trump.

You forgot ‘stupid’

by StoppedRainingMen

You forgot ‘stupid’

I thought ignorant was a more accurate description of the stereotype, but sure, OK.

I think 'wilfully ignorant' is even more accurate, but I think both ignorant and stupid are in the right ballpark.

This is very well put.

Because it is difficult to find a dense collection of good, different voices and opinions.

All that is baked in.

His oddness is more noteworthy

quick reminder that 90% of the people that your boy Obama drone striked were civilians.
