We're good. Just think it's important to point out that RFKj was one of the leading sources of vaccine disinformation throughout covid, and he is explicitly MAGA. I don't think there is any room to say this is not due to maga policies. It quite demonstrably is.

My philosophy is a heavy emphasis on education. I believe all of the problems stem from the lack of it. I do not pretend to have the solutions to these problems, but as a general rule I oppose anything that de-emphasizes education. I also believe countering mis- and dis-information should be a priority (part of education), which is why I put in a lot of time doing it online (and have for a very long time - you can find me in moon landing denier forums, 9/11 truther forums, and covid forums going back decades for the first two).
About the only thing we can do at this point now that the fox is in charge of the coop is encourage people to educate themselves independently of this clown show and weather the storm. The best plan would've been to avoid the situation we are in (which, of course, a properly educated society would've done).

I hadnt realized you were against the civil right act for the portions pertaining to private actors, but yes I agree the state shouldn't be allowed to intervene against private discrimination ever no exception (except monopolies perhaps).

Yes small clusters of 0 vaccination embedded in larger regions of lower than average vaccination rates. Places like rural Texas were known to be some of the most likely places for these outbreaks to occur before they did. The overall vaccination rate of Texas was known to be irrelevant.

Afaik that outbreak was caused by a cluster of unvaccinated kids because of religious exemptions, and afaik religious exemptions are mandatory under the (state) constitution of most states so anyway ascribing that to current politics (or claiming it can be solved by policy) is totally in bad faith.
Measles vaccine is already mandatory in schools in all states afaik, but exemptions are constitutionally mandated as well, there is no policy fix legally available no matter ideologies or preferences.

Thirty-odd years ago DC had a murder rate of about 80 per 100,000 per annum. In line with the general decline of crime in Western societies since then, it's now down to about 30. But note that England & Wales has a rate of less than 1. DC's murder rate was always multiple times worse than Northern Ireland at the height of the Troubles. Making DC in any reasonable sense 'safe' would be a big task, unless they're only interested in preserving the touristy bits as a Potemkin capital.

There is community spread now because the baseline vaccination rate in these larger areas is below what it has to be to stop spreading. Now you have spread among people who’ve not had contact not just with the outside source but even 1 or 2 degrees from them. That’s a confirmed prediction of what will likely happen with vax rates below herd immunity thresholds.
