President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
I see futures getting obliterated again
We tired of winning yet?
I am sure every country tariffed might well be trying to do a deal with Trump to reduce it somewhat, but I'm also sure every country tariffed is assuming Trump will always act in bad faith (or at best is unreliable), so will be looking to develop trade with anywhere except the USA, and be looking to reduce its dependencies on trade with US.
Like I said before, where this is going, in the USA = America First, rest of the world = America Last
Canada 100%
American think they had inflation ?
lol watch next …
Go trump go .
FWIW Canada 40 millions people .
Yes it will be costly in the beginning but it wont be too hard to find other markets to sell to .
It’s not like we were like China or India with near 2 billions producing workers trying to find other markets …
Make America broke again.
2 minutes of forced halting of trading (see the price stopped falling, thats's a 1min x axis chart) triggered by a swing of 3.5% within a hour (that's the rule outside market hours, and I think it's fairly recent as I hadn't heaed of it before).

From now on I can't imagine anything else between two identical choices, one being USA and one not USA, to chose USA.
Countries are looking for reliable and stable partners.
I can totally see most countries trying to appease the US with emergency measures while looking for reliable alternative forward.

Fact is there are no reliable (or otherwise) countries willing to run massive worldwide trade deficits.
No country wants it's consumers ti get into debt to buy foreign stuff in aggregate a lot more than their incomes would justify, and then for the foreigners to own a growing portion of the country assets.
That only works for the reserve currency issuer, any other country attempting that would collapse
When to buy Bitcoin dip please and ty?
This futures trading is a sign that this week might push us to a point where every major US market is down for day, week, month, year to date, 12 month rolling year and believe it or not next up if we have a bad week would be down for the last 3 years.
down for day

down for week

down for month

down for year to date

down for rolling 12 month year

Next domino would be to fall down for last 3 years

Excellent take from Roubini:
You guy's lost. Trump won and is President. I'm not tired of winning. Are you tired of whining?
You are right I give you that .
Trump said explicitly he would lower prices -> and he did !
I just expected it was cpi prices he was aiming at but instead it was the stock market trump was targeting .
my bad .
the good thing about all that winning being over , houses prices will go down once unemployment will double with maybe a 10 trillons valued lost in wealth !
what a win !
Those 7$ an hour jobs will become profitable again ! Win win win .

It sounds like a buying opportunity to me.
You folks are judging things much too quickly. Is what is happening a surprise to you? The way we had been doing things was broken therefore that needed to be broken. Did you think it was better to just let the world economy collapse? Or is it better to have a little pain now and avoid the collapse and build a better system? Obviously in the end this is gonna benefit the US far more than the rest of the world so I get the foreign bitterness.
lol, what a ****ing idiot

What was broken exactly ?
And how exactly wiping out 5-10 trillions in wealth (which do not at all erased debts !) help exactly ?
Ps: but no, wasn’t a surprise to me …
I knew he would fack big time .
Especially surrounded by « yes man » incompetent .
Fun
The alternative would be continuing being a broken and wounded country. Sometimes there needs to be a big shake up. Trump has talked about this for 50 years.
Having stupid ideas for 50 years and not changing them despite people telling you they are stupid for 50 years isn’t a sign of intelligence or strength.

I really hope so. Would love to the civilised world* come together over this. But the pressures; economic, dumping and seeking advantage with the usa are likely be massive. Plus military alliances of course.
We're all focused on the fairly direct effects of usa tariffs but the unintended conseqences could really blow up in all our faces. Need some damn good leaders and it's hard to see them.
*I'd like to see this include the democrats/etc in the usa. They can run on rejoining

How do any of you know it's a stupid idea? I know the Trump haters don't like it. I've seen plenty of evidence this is exactly what we needed. I don't know for sure how this will end up but I do know the doom and gloom is premature.
What's the chances of this causing a credit crunch (or similar) style meltdown? and who the **** will deal with it this time if it happens?
