omg Linux. I give it an honest try 18 months ago when Windows started forcing auto updates while you slept. Got sick of having to Google how to do mundane everyday things. This was Fedora. I'm sure I'll be back when I'm force into Windows 11 but not looking forward to it.
I got Ubuntu and it's pretty easy. And figuring out those mundane things that come up every so often is much easier with chatgpt/grok/perplexity
My other laptop is Windows but I haven't used it in a few months. Had to edit a pdf doc a while back and couldn't figure out how to do on Linux so cracked open the windows machine.
Meh... I'm the king of principled stands... that nobody cares about, according to my wife. But she says it sexy and w/ grace, so she can get away with it.
I never bought apple, because I believed in the democratization of technology.

I'm anti-apple, simply because I'm old school in the tech world. Before the internet, when nerds would talk to each other on modems, and most people entering someone's house w/ a computer, just thought it was another TV screen... tech nerds had a pact about backing, and ensuring the democratization of technology, so all people (or as many as possible) could have access to it.
Apple broke this pact, and anyone who is older like me and in this world understands what it mean

I was an Apple fanboy through college as Apple's educational prices were awesome. Once I graduated college I switched to Windows because no one in the 90's used Mac outside of graphic designers and musicians and haven't looked back and use Linux for "serious" dev stuff. For reference I started with Windows NT and skipped Windows 95 and whatever you want to call 98.
Was a Blackberry guy because of the keyboard, hated screen keyboards and still can't reliably type on them. When my Blackberry finally died in 2015 tried an Android because I didn't want an iPhone but the Android sucked ass so I reluctantly started using my wife's old iPhone 5 because the OS is so superior to Android. Have always used her used phone until I finally purchased a two year old 12 mini.
Do use an Android tablet to read books and watch movies though.

Think you can run docker on Ubuntu desktop. Stirling PDF is amazing. Could also spin up an Ubuntu server VM.
