the Trudeau carbon tax was just an additive on other provinces that didn’t had such a tax already , and to make the pill easier to swallow , it was for the vast majority at 0 cost until 2030 with a rebate .
Now if bc want to scrap the tax they can , but it was never in accordance with the the carbon of Trudeau ….

I like the snap election. Politics aside, there is a real sense to which a mandate IS needed for trump, and while I understand the proroguement and leadership race and all that, I think we do need an election so it is the "right" thing to do quickly. This isn't something I say as strongly as the conservatives screeching about some anti-democratic thing, it was totally legal for the liberals to do what they did, but an election is better than otherwise.
But ya it also makes political sense. Ride the momentum, and do so without all the mess that immediately happens when you actually have to be PM like writing out the throne speech that will get voted down for instance.
Ya even after he tried the rebrand with contacts and tight shirts and a new haircut, just....no. Remember the infamous apple interview? THere is a type of internet warrior conservative that LOVED it. But a think a lot of people, women in particular, felt that punching down on this ill prepared community newsletter reporter was just icky.

I've been calling for a highspeed rail corridor from Ontario to Quebec since I lived in Toronto circa 2007. Having Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal/Quebec City basically all in a line without a high speed rail is just ridiculous failure of generations of Canadians to invest properly. Very glad to see movement from Trudeau on this.
Somewhat tangentially, Carney had an interesting point the other day. He talked about the "operational deficit" going to zero. Basically this means when you look at tax revenues, and regular government expenditures like transfers to individuals/provinces/etc, that this should have zero operational deficit. However, he did NOT commit to not use debt to make investments. And this is exactly the type of thing I'd like to see.

I always get accused of whataboutism's Yes Trump Corrupt Yes Rob Ford does it as well does not make it right. Its why I voted for Trudeau the first time he conned me into thinking he would be different .
I love the idea of high speed rail from TO to Quebec city and agree on Federal $$ going to it . But we live in Canada and the Aglukark Tribe in Northern NWT will be against this project as it endangers the pine beetle .
Trudeau has no timeline for this thing . Look at Calgary and Edmonton on 6 km LRT projects and they are a total joke now imagine the scale of a 1000km .

Well, plenty of totalitarian nations are very able to get things like this done, so not exactly. I think US (and maybe Canada?) definitely gives special interests too much influence, and incentivizes them to block things getting done. But I agree it isn't partisan. Although the left is probably much better at it, just because they are generally more competent and values align more with people who comprise govt bureaucracies.
