I saw that, one of the very few executive orders I actually supported. Sadly, that EO was more of a "go and study this", and my guess is the republican congress won't magically find a whole bucket of money to pay for it. But I'll be happy to be wrong on that one.

As I have remarked before, Canada is having similar problems with China (except the other way around) and the Canadian people seem mostly agnostic about it. Really seems like Canada should explore joining BRICS and aligning more with China, given who they are inclined to act congenially toward and antagonistically toward.

Or, you could just acknowledge how pointlessly self destructive and harmful the trade war of your country is, and do whatever political actions you can to encourage it end. And since this was an economic war launched entirely by the US, you can't drone on about how the meanie mean canadians act antagonistically.

I really appreciate that the Liberal platform was honest in the sense that while it predicted revenue increases from many of its policies, it didn't put any of those into the costing. The 131 billion over 4 years number is just the costs without any phantom revenue boosts from the policies. So when you compare the CPC and Liberal numbers it isn't apples to oranges, it is rotten, worm-filled mold vs oranges.

FIRST LINE: Conservatives book 4b in revenue from building homes. You'd think, oh that means they are SPENDING 4B to help build homes. Nope. They imagine the homes build themselves. And then they get 4b in tax revenue. Or maybe you can say well it costs 2B for GST on new homes being cut, which is going to magically generate 4B in tax a revenue (for...uh...municipal governments??) Oh and they book profit from ending housing accelerator fund, ending housing infrastructure fund, lowering CMHC, etc all of which would be less houses (WHERE ARE THE LINES FOR REVENUE LOSS FOR THOSE?????).

BOTH carney and poilievre list cost savings from shrinking the basic size of government. Poilievre claims LARGER savings from doing this than Carney does. It's honestly remarkable stuff, just magically finding 10 billion from limiting consultants alone (again no way of discovering what actual cuts to quality of service comes from this). But Poilievre being worse than this than Carney isn't really the main deceptive part (although it is deceptive). The deceptive part is what I predicted: that Poilievre claims 10s of billions of dollars of magical future revenue from economic growth and Carney follows normal practices and doesn't.

Carney promises 1% reduction of bottom bracket. Poilievre promises 2.25% reduction. So the cost of Poilievre's should be larger...right? Well for 2025 Carney says his 1% deduction costs about 5B. Poilievre says his 2.25% reduction costs....1B. Ok so maybe Carney is going to count his for a full year (as he says) and Poilievre plans to only give that deduction starting in like October or something. What about next year? Closer, they are both over 5B (liberals a bit more). But it's 2.25x the size of the cut! wtf poilievre?!?! Is he secretely planning to phase it in, like it's going to be 0.25% in year 1 then 1% in year 2 or something? If so, that part is not in the plan anywhere. Sneaky sneaky sneaky!!!
Ok let's go back to housing. GST cut on new homes under 1.3M right.....but only costs.......2B? Well some back of the envelope math and that means something more in the tune of 50k houses a year. I thought they were going to 500k a year. Remnember their other line where they imagine 4B in magical tax revenue because of so much economic development building all those 500k homes???? So why is the GST tax cut so tiny? Do they not even believe their own numbers?

As much as I like Carney and was a die hard Liberal for about 2 months, the conservative plan to defer all taxes on capital gains if capital is re-invested in Canada is way too enticing for me. We would have between July 2025 and December 31st 2026 to deploy the capital.

Canada has had more direct conflict with China than the USA up until very recently. Look up the case of the 2 Michaels, pulling of diplomats, tariffs. China was by far our biggest focus of foreign security policy (way more than US). Until our neighbour started acting erratically and randomly talking about annexing us. That got our attention for some reason. Who knows why Einstein.

The Liberals spent 10 years donating money to all sorts of causes that I don't care about and was forced to go into deficits to do so.
If the conservatives want to cut my taxes in a big way ala Canada capital reinvestment and go into deficits and money printing to do so and invent funny numbers, so be it, at least its to my benefit. It's my turn.
