I've made it clear I don't want civilians dying and I'm constantly told I do. It's fine, it's an internet forum. But anything I do you micromanage and compare to a comment I made about you not liking Israel?

Qatar has harbored hamas terrorists for 2 decades although rumors are they recently kicked out and sent them to turkey

So that's a "no" then. There's no serious agreement to withdraw or stop the killings even if the hostages are released. Bibi's going to keep milking the hostage crisis and keep the murder spree running as long as he can.

israel has been clear throughout

they will stop when
all of the hostages are released
hamas is out of power and so weak they will be unable to reform as a terrorist organization

they have been consistent with that all along

phase 1 of all of these ceasefires is
israel gives up a few hundred prisoners for a few dozen hostages (probably 300 for 30 is being reported)
ceasefire for X days (60? 90?)
egypt/qatar continue to work with both parties to get to phase 2 which would have israel withdraw and do more 10 to 1 lopsided trades
and eventually hope to get to stage 3 which would be a longterm ceasefire

realistically getting past phase 1 is a longshot on both sides for many reason

hamas wants to remain in power
israel is not going to leave the philadelphi corridor without assurances that no smuggling can occur
israel is not going to leave and let hamas rebuild
hamas is not going to surrender

so yeah war sucks

i am aware he has been quoted as calling nukes western evil, but there has been evidence of Iran trying to build the capability to have nukes. you are denying that?

Everyone would like the IRI to become more moderate, but no one thinks killing Khomeini would accomplish this. Would probably do the opposite. Obama made a deal to allow Iran to become a regional hegemon, I assume with the expectation they would be a lesser evil than the Muslim Brotherhood axis. But they showed they weren't, so now they are being kicked out of Lebanon and Syria. And Khomeini will die of natural causes, be replaced by someone exactly like him, and nothing will change.

No. At that point international pressure on Israel would become so intense they would be forced to dramatically decrease the war effort, and the Palestinian condition and future would be dramatically increased.

The fact you dont think Hamas should release the hostages or it would make things better for the Palestinians shows a tremendous anti Israel bias on your part, and a remarkable indifference towards the well being of the Palestinian and Israeli people.

Moderation will be based on posting guidelines, not who is posting what. User notes keep track of previous temps, they escalate for everyone. If Karl keeps posting like that he will be subject to the same penalties. Personal attacks like that are over the line and not allowed.

Obama handed them Syria 15 years ago, and the US spent trillions fighting ISIS and propping up the Syria regime, which was really just an IRI colonial project. But IRI showed they were worse for the region than Sunni extremists were, and so Syria was taken away.

Also, I am the last person to defend Islamic extremism. But you cant just call every Sunni religious extremist group ISIS. That is just dumb. By your logic Hamas should be ISIS too. The IRI had its chance to be a regional hegemon and exert influence in the region and diarrhead all over the bed by arming horrible actors like Houthis and Hamas.

Qatar has done a very effective influence peddling campaign throughout the world, throwing a lot of money around (much more than Israel/AIPAC); and now the Sunni's are going to get another shot.

Qatar sucks. Erdogan sucks. But I guess the reality is the rest of the world is going to just have to pick between who is the current lesser evil at any given moment as far as who to support as a regional hegemon in this part of the world.
