In other news the Egypt delegation admitted all the "positive developments" in negotiations are fake news; and that further negotiations are useless unless Israel accepts Hamas maximalist terms, which doesn't even get them most of the hostages back anytime soon (if ever).

You didnt argue that but its irrelevant. "Also claimed" has meaning here. Did I say he says everything vic says? did I say vic and him share all ideas?

They told Netanyahu that the US, Egyptian and Qatari mediators regarded Israel’s demand for an ongoing presence at the Gaza-Egypt border as an indication that the prime minister is not truly interested in a deal. As such, those countries were not prepared to press Hamas with full force to accept the proposal.

In this case I think it's a pretty ridiculous request that Bibi agrees to Hamas's terms.
On the more encompassing negotiation both Bibi and Sinwar clearly want the war to continue.
For this 6 week ceasefire Hamas asking to be allowed to smuggle for 6 weeks is just absurd.

My point is the way this is being framed is absurd. Demanding one side capitulates while the other side offers absolutely nothing is not a "deal" in any honest understanding of the word.
Hamas wants control of the border back. Ok. What are they offering in return? That is how deals work. What is going on here is not a deal.

Yeah. You submitted your post while I was writing mine and I didn't see it until mine was finished.
That being said, Israeli media is reporting that Israel has been dramatically intensifying its efforts to destroy tunnels at the border. So this is some indirect evidence Israel is preparing to possibly leave, and doing as much as it can to disrupt future Hamas remilitarization efforts in the meantime.
