The post was fine. It's all true what I wrote. There is a long history of Israel supporting militants and Islamists and it makes perfect sense....if they don't want to make any concessions then it's better to have hostile neighbors than ones looking for peace.

And Egypt warned them and their own monitors-- people paid to just watch cameras all day (I met one of these people once a few years ago but before 10/7) warned them too. There isn't any publicly available evidence that they knew about it far in advance...but certainly days and if they knew about it further than that I wouldn't be surprised.

You are frustrating to talk to, because you speak with such certainty about things you have very little knowledge of, and very little interest in learning about other than to cherry pick talking points that confirm your biases.

I think you generally are way too quick to turn to sinister conspiratorial motives to Israel, and way too reticent to give Palestinians or their allies any agency at all to Palestinians. And most of your statements are half truths at best. But I dont think there is any point in going into details or context, because you are completely uninterested in such details. You kind of just go off of vibes.

You didn't dispute anything I said other than to claim they are half-truths...I supposed I'd want to know what parts are less truthful. But for sure I don't care about Israel any more than any other random country I haven't been to like South Korea or something. It is true that I'm just calling it like I see it.

For the last 1.5 years you have been saying Israel funded Hamas. And every time you do so (that I see at least) I correct you that Israel did not fund Hamas at all. At most, it facilitated Qatar sending money to Hamas. And you never even challenge this, or even seem interested in addressing this discrepancy at all. Yet you keep on repeating the same line regardless.

And the fact you dont care about Israel or any relevant details about its history; yet still have strong conspiratorial opinions about its motives and objectives, while assigning Palestinians no agency at all because you dont actually care enough to work out a worldview that provides them any agency; is kind of the point I am making.

You're splitting hairs here whether or not Israel actively funded Hamas themselves or merely supported them through other indirect means-- it doesn't change the fact that the Israeli right benefits from having radicals as neighbors nor does that take away the agency of those radicals.

To this point here-- a lot of this is just from reading and paraphrasing what lots of Israeli government officials have said through the years-- they supported militants as a means of avoiding having to deal with moderates.

It's not really that sinister even just basic common realpolitiks.

How about... what things have you done today that are inconsiderate to others? Leaving dogshit on your neighbor's lawn because "it's biodegradable and you just need to get over it;" driving with your knees through a school zone at 40 MPH while 24-tabling PLO with your right hand and waving off the crossing guard with your left hand, or perhaps sprinting your cart full of groceries in front of an 80-year-old approaching the cashier with 6 items in her mobility scooter?

I have a bag of dog **** tied to my backpack right now as I type this as I make my way to the nearest trash ty.

I mean this phrasing is a lot more reasonable than saying things that are literally not true or have no real evidence to back them up.

And if you agree it isn’t that sinister, then I fail to grasp why you continually bring this up at all. Like what changes knowing this?

If anything this it would be a reason NOT to support Hamas retaining control of Gaza. But I have never heard you suggest that.

And that certainly isn’t what the “international community” wants to happen. They want Israel to just unilaterally leave Gaza and go back to business as usual with Hamas firmly in control.
