Regarding the OP: any article or person that claims billionaires pay less in taxes than average citizens needs to be ridiculed and subsequently ignored if they don't change their tune. Lying to people doesn't help the situation any more than the endless parade of baseless speculative doomsday headlines. As was already pointed out, even if you introduce a wealth tax and confiscate every last theoretical dime of wealth from the billionaires, you still couldn't keep the government's lights on for a year with the ill-gotten loot.

I'm not going to sit here and deny that some people have it rough out there, but this isn't something we can tax our way out of. Get out there and learn a marketable skill. If you want to be safe, pick one that involves physical interaction with the world. We have a housing shortage. AI isn't going to build and maintain those houses. I have a few hundred units in Milwaukee with an external maintenance list a mile long right now because there aren't enough bodies to throw at it.
