President Elon Musk
He probably deserves his own thread at this point, discuss accordingly
You mean private companies decided what they want their employees to say? I thought that was the kind of thing you support; what does it have to do with free speech?
I mean institutions taking public money who are then by law forced to follow all the constitutional provisions that would apply if they were public institutions.
Anyone taking money from the state (that includes their students benefiting from state help for loans to pay their tuition) is under the 1a same as police is.
It has to do with free speech because by taking public money they become state actors
Luciom thinks those people should be deported or shot. Not exaggerating. It's wild that he even pretends to support freedom of speech.
Material supports of enemies isn't a matter of free speech in the slightest. If someone is officially declared an enemy of the republic by the political bodies (like Hamas is) , supporting it in any way or form is treason.
You can talk about how the state should not consider them an enemy as much as you want but you are not allowed to "pick up their cause" in any form, that's material support for the enemy.
I would like to be able to make this case, but the Biden admin literally had the FBI talking to Facebook about what it should restrict.
I think you're right about it mostly being BS, but the "there has never been an issue with freedom of speech" part is wrong.
In the Twitter files it was very clearly stated that they would suggest what they wanted messaging to be but there was never sense that it was required. Twitter personnel still struggled with this, as I'm sure many normies would talking to government entities but it wasn't a requirement or even implied to be.
Zuck tucking tail and kissing the ring doesn't change the reality that there was never an issue around free speech at Facebook

Lol
You can't be serious.
Med school teachers have been heavily harassed, suspended for courses and so on because they failed to say "pregnant people" instead of "pregnant women" but sure nothing has ever happened of the sort
my inclination is that you wont be able to source this claim from credible sources or you can find a tiny handful of instances where they did much worse things but tried to frame it as such

In the twitter files and in Zuckenberk witness appearance, and in Biden speeches (verbatim: "they are killing americans" referred to socialmedia companies that weren't censoring enough) it's clear they threatened regulatory action if they didn't comply enough.
The SCOTUS case about it failed on standing technicalities (for most plaintiffs), and on the fact that social media companies did censor a bit even before the explicit intervention of state institutions toward them, so it couldn't be proven beyond reasonable doubt that specific acts of censorships happened at the behest of government.
Naywya if you don't oppose the government from EVER even talking with companies about even suggesting the possibility of touching content which isn't in violation of the law, you have 0 regard for the 1a yourself.
Fact is it's already incredible the FBI ever talked to twitter unless for specific law violations. Utterly incredible
Pretty sure there were a few specific FBI cases but in general it was Trump and Biden admins talking to Facebook/Twitter etc. Oh yeah, it happened under Trump too
Yall never like to talk about that fact

This kind of acceptance of Dumbocrats sending cops around to tell people what kind of speech they don't want to hear is very similar to how playbig2000 or brian james and their crowd just think everything Trump and Elon are doing is just fine.

ye your inclination is that i will able to find a well documented case where it specifically happened, then you will move from the full denial it ever happened (that is objectively false) you had before to the next wall of the castle and motte "it's very rare".
It's exceptionally hard to fully document one such case when doing so is a killer for your professional career, but it won't be enough for you so i won't bother linking the well documented case where it happened.
It was (and still is to some extent) pervasive, thousands of colleges mandated you to sign woke statements to hire you for example (which is a huge violation of the 1a).

It only happened under Trump with the completly made up "russian interference" narrative. And not out of a Trump directive, rather to undermine him.
The FBI contacted social media companies about the Hunter Biden laptop story, it's all by witnesses under perjury

Literally every police force everywhere in this country talks to the press about what they want them to say or not to say about ongoing cases

You don’t understand how certain information can compromise an ongoing investigation and that makes you the ignorant one, not dumbocrats

It was (and still is to som
So do you have some instances of this to share or not
Instead of crying over woke stuff, why don't you address the part about how this administration doesn't believe in a free press?
This isn't true at all.
This administration talks to the press every day, unlike the ice cream regime who they kept hidden away.
The AP failed to recognize or respect Trump's renaming of the gulf. I'm really surprised that he still let's CNN and other propaganda arms in there, but that's just me.
I'm calling it The Gulf of Ireland from now on because why tf not.

they decide what to make public of the information they have, but they can't come and tell you what to say and punish you if you don't. only judges can and only if imminent threat of violence is involved (the only main limit to the 1a in the USA).
it's incredible you keep misconstruing things like this.
actually it isn't incredible , that's what people on the left do for literally every topic, there is no resemblance of a common semantic on anything even vaguely controversial. you make up the meaning of words from thin air.

What you described doesn’t happen and is the opposite to what I described and was described in the twitter files
What you are doing is using a rhetorical tool to justify totalitarianism

which totalitarianism? I an asking to always make it completely illegal for any government entity to contact any private company about speech unless there is an explicit violation of the law they are dealing with.
I am saying thinking it's ok the FBI "has some small talk" with the guys in charge of censorship in a social media company is authoritarian and totalitarian if it isn't strictly linked to violation of laws (so you have a ****ing warrant).
you are covering for overt totalitarian approaches. gvmnt going and saying "just asking, could you pls look twice at this guy? he does nothing illegal but he is so much anti vaccines and you know vaccines are so important..." which is what the Biden admin did.
anyway police can't keep you in custody for longer just because you didn't use the pronouns the police officers wants you to us ok? that's what happened in colleges, and it's illegal, and it's a violation of the 1a (because they tale public money) and it was all done by the left and nothing close to that ever happened in peacetime in the USA
the only times the FBI should contact twitter is 1) to ask for data about a user if they have a warrant 2) to ask for removal of some content if they have a warrant.
no conversation should even be initiated ever at all if there isn't an explicit and certified (by a judge) violation of the law.
