Yea man how come private industry doesn’t have a great flu vaccine that requires worldwide collaboration and data sharing to sell at way below market rates to ensure enough people take it every year?

It’s basically given away to maximize the number of people who get it because that’s how vaccines work - the more people who get it the more effective it becomes on the whole. You want it to be something that only people who can afford it get?

This is ****ing infuriating. I came as close to dying as I ever have from the flu. I rely on this. But the lunatic morons are in charge now. ****ing infuritating.
These are people who either do not know or do not care that the flu is a dangerous disease with enormous death tolls, nor do they know or care that strains of flu can cause pandemics of catastrophic proportions.
"Just a flu" was even used about Covid-19 to downplay its seriousness. This was galling for two reasons. One: it would be catastrophic if it was as serious as the flu. Two: It was in fact much worse.
One has to wonder what will happen if we get struck by a worst case bird flu pandemic with people like these in charge and their believers running around in big numbers. That is isn't like a normal flu or Covid which in serious cases will just hurt or kill some child or grandma that careless or ignorant carriers will likely never meet, instead people subjected to risk of infection would be in direct and serious danger of death.

I guarantee you not people in health care and not people whose lives are torn apart by those deaths. But as long as it doesn't bother you, then we can just sail through it without blinking an eye. no I wouldn't because deaths in car crash were more than double per mile driven decades ago and it wasn't a yearly catastrophe.
you need something to o happen which is insanely worse than the worst thing that ever happened since the 50s by a large margin to be talking about something catastrophic, for me.
which is why COVID was a joke as it brought mortality to 2007-08 levels.
lockdowns instead were actual economic catastrophes. worse GDP drop since the great depression. that's an actual catastrophe (caused by democrats).
now the opioid epidemic is indeed catastrophic, orders of magnitude greater than anything else that ever happened in peace time related to deaths from substances in society.
but a respiratory virus, to be a catastrophe?needs to kill at least 4-5 times the worst flu season did in at least the last 50 years.
a catastrophe is something that permanently scars the country in death terms. something you visibly notice in a significant way in population graphs. something huge and exceedingly rare before it happens.
