This is basically all I wanted you to know for Goonies
It was just adventure without a plane (assassin). I would usually just clue Indiana or Indy here but Indy, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, etc all have prominent plane scenes
So:
Gold, temple
And then the traps: spike, fall, (pressure) plate
All of the above movies and basically all treasure hunt movies have those 5 items (not all temple, but close enough connection)
oh shoot plane was assassin :(
After they crushed first turn, I figured I had 2 turns to win.
But we had a shot at 3 turns for one reason:
They had Prague as obvious clue for Czech+skyscraper, which Buffalo blocked.
So on turn 2 when I was cluing for spike, fall, scuba, Buffalo I wanted Buffalo to be the weakest connection so youβd only guess if we were winning.
That way it would block Prague
So yeah, Buffalo Cave is a cave and why it was capitalized. But I knew it was a long shot for you to guess it.
Thank goodness for IBD this game.
Well that was frustrating to watch. Probably banged my head into the desk half a dozen times.
Great turn 1. Expected Bell to be in the mix, but you nailed the other 5. A+ job.
After this was disaster upon disaster.
Plate was a fine guess, even though it was theirs.
I'm shocked that skyscraper wasn't even mentioned as a possibility. It's another type of structure. I thought wall was going to be the tough connection.
Most frustrating of all was fly being the backup. We're done with Disney words, why is there a Disney backup? Backup should have been a church word 100% of the time here because you don't know how many words I intended.
Wasn't sure you knew what this was, but I think it was the best option.
No, I can't go Prague because there's another city on the board. Dismissing that right off the bat killed us.
Really wish you had gone back to church and asked what that clue could have been for. Did you think church is the best clue for wall and cross? I could have bought it if you thought Czech was a church word, but the fact that it wasn't even mentioned in that context makes me think it wasn't thought about at all.
Uggggggghhhhh. This is a TERRIBLE clue for Czech/Loch Ness.
Czech is a demonym and Loch Ness is a rural place.
So why would I pick a rural place in Czechia rather than the demonym of where Loch Ness is? "Scottish" would have been a slam dunk and had no blockers.
Rant over. Congrats blues.
Church unlimited on turn 2 doesn't tell us how many words we're looking for. We thought it was Cross and Wall. Maybe Church - 3 and then maybe we we get to Skyscraper eventually.
Unlimited on turn 2 seems unnecessary when our backup list is faultless. We lose clarity on your current clue.
Perhaps megachurch gets us onto Skyscraper too.
Fly was a backup when we were still guessing Disney words. We didn't know we'd guessed them all when we left the backup.
I still do not know what that last clue is. Is it a Czech Skyscraper name or something?
Your reasoning about why not Prague and why it couldn't be Loch Ness are very valid. Missed those ones.
Wall + cross + skyscraper = cathedral maybe better than church?
Great strategic clueing, Nich! High five, Neil!

Since I gave a lot of criticism, it's only fair that I get some in return.
Unlimited was a signal that the remaining Disney words were correct. I didn't want you thinking that one of the backups were wrong by not giving unlimited. I can see the argument for "losing context for current clue", but I thought we didn't need it.
Karlstejn is probably the most famous Czech castle (besides Prague, which I couldn't do). It's pretty cool if you ever go there. Understandable if you didn't know it. Maybe I should have done Neuschwanstein? Not in Czechia, but more well known and close enough?
Megachurch (and maybe cathedral) is better than church for my 2nd clue. No argument there.
If there's one thing I'm standing my ground on in this game, it's fly as a bad backup. You could have had a qualifier like "fly (if one of atlantis/cat is wrong)" and then had a 2nd backup. Or just guessed them in parts. We don't have to guess all x number of clues in a single post.
For me:
Cross
Cat
Atlantis (fly as backup if one of atlantis or cat is wrong).
Plate
Wall
Pass
I've been to Neuschwanstein and would have got both words, but you weren't to know that.
I think codenames is usually obvious to whoever is clueing, but I think everyone (me included) needs to realise that if a team of 2 didn't get it then maybe it wasn't as obvious as once thought (there are exceptions to this).

Ipcress - 5
The clues in this game are just increasingly obscure proper nouns
I have no idea who what or where an Ipcress is
I guess it could be Kiwi for a place in New Zealand.
I guess my vote would be Novel/Pass.
Makes the most sense for a proper noun that we've never heard of.
But even if that's right, we're still completely clueless on what the novel might be about, so this is a 1 clue at best for us.
Novel seems like it casts the widest net on proper nouns, so let's do it
