POG PUB 2025: About damn time. For a lot of things. But not everything.
Happy New Year, everyone.
I'll let you all mentally fill in the categories in the title.
I need to stop buying so many books.
Where can I get an indexorcism.
I'm craving brownies, but my oven heating element is broken.
I'm thinking I can make pancakes with the brownie mix and some mini chocolate chips and top them with peanut butter cream cheese icing.
Or hit the circuit breaker and pull the element. New element brownies are unspeakably toothsome.
I have the replacement element, but I don't have the right screwdriver to replace it. So until I make a trip to the hardware store, it's no baking for me. :(
I didn't get a great shot of the pancakes because the icing kind of overflowed it all, but I ended up with double chocolate pancakes with peanut butter icing and strawberry jam glaze, topped with powdered sugar and rainbow sprinkles:

that looks exactly like what I feed my unicorn
I think it might more resemble what comes out of the other end of the unicorn. 😊
I'll see if I can get a better picture with the leftovers tomorrow.

<3
I enjoy it, but it's much more fun with someone else around to feed. The cat seldom appreciates my aesthetic efforts. 😉
(And eating chocolate pancakes with peanut butter icing 4 days in a row because I got an inspiration can get kind of tiresome, too.)
I made an excellent cream sauce for Salmon last night with just heavy cream, garlic salt, and two minutes of microwaves.
Salmon in the air fryer. Picked and cleaned baby spinach. Fresh raspberries. [chef pinching fingers]
I used to eat ramen about 320 days a year
at the casino i'd order the same thing every day
I enjoy eating the same thing over and over
i've never had a Costco dog. I have too much self respect(and I loath myself)
and I only had one or two Costco chickens. they were always out. but I had plenty of whole foods chickens. sometimes I think they were $7?
I heard chicken used to be wildly expensive like before 100 years ago. more than lobster. and that's where the saying "chicken in every pot comes from" but it's probably untrue. just what I heard.
and sorry for the babble. I'm posting high again
I doubt that is true. Everyone had chicken coops.
Google says eating chicken used to be a luxury

Spoiler
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Pre-Industrial Farming:
Before the mid-20th century, chicken was a relatively expensive meat, often seen as a delicacy or a treat for special occasions.
Industrialization and Availability:
The advent of industrial poultry farming, which took off after World War II, led to increased chicken production and distribution, making it more affordable and readily available.

Me too! If I get lunch at a place in the airport, most of the people know what I want.
Pretty much every morning, I have a couple packages of ramen for breakfast.
Of course chicken used to be a luxury. It's the heart of many sayings.
Winner winner chicken dinner? Because chicken was expensive.
You men eat your dinner, eat your pork and beans
I eat more chicken than any man ever seen
-Willie Dixon, Back Door Man
So much for me always getting the hotdog.
Damn you Filthy for causing me to change my order! Lol
I expect it probably was true. Living chickens are an ongoing food source (eggs) for the price of water and a few seeds and whatever bugs they can scratch up--plus fertilizer for your garden.
Roast chicken is 2-3 meals for your family, tops.

Lobster used to be peasant food!!!
