agree ASG is largely a who cares in big 2025 but i would say including the rising stars guys in the game is probably the dumbest thing the league has done in awhile, guess it is moot
once the trade deadline and ASG is over, there just isn't much to talk about with the nba until april though

Imagine there wasn’t widespread legalized sportsbetting and how dead most of the interest would be in the regular season.
All Star Game has to be World vs. USA. Best of 7 first to 20 points.
30 All-Stars. Top 10 Americans play for the USA. Top 10 non-Americans play for the world. If there aren't enough players for either side then they have non-All Star alternatives.
Remaining All Stars play against the rising stars or 10 All Star snubs on Saturday in a regular game.
Winning team in each game gets the same cash bonus.

I haven't watched an NBA regular season game live since Covid. It needs a complete overhaul.
Fiba rules. 10 minute quarters. Need to tie point differential to the standings to prevent teams from just punting games. Maybe have it as the first tiebreaker. Teams only get 4 shots per quarter that count as a 3 pointer. This also decreases the chance of a blowout as it allows teams to catch up.
Standings need to matter more.
Seed the playoffs without factoring in conference. Seed both conferences together.
Play-in March Madness Style in Vegas.
15th seed picks which of seeds 17 or 18 it wants to play in single elimination. 16th seed plays the team that wasn't picked.
13th seed picks one of the two winners to play a single elimination game
14th seed plays other winner in single elimination game
That leaves us with 14 teams remaining. Top 2 seeds get a bye.
3-8 teams pick in order who to play from the six teams remaining after 9 seed, and play them in a best of 5 series where all games are played at the home arena of seeds 3-8.
The play-ins and best of 5 round can be completed in a little more than a week. Those rounds will replace the first round series which generally aren't competitive. These teams will be more evenly matched and people prefer single elimination.
After that round, there are 8 teams remaining. 1 seed can pick any team besides the 2 seed. Next highest team can pick whomever it wants to play, etc. Best of 7.
Standings need to matter more. Getting rid of conferences for seeding will make the regular season much more competitive.
People will probably write this off as another gimmick, but the NBA has a boring regular season + predictable playoff problem. They need major changes like the MLB.
Shortening the games seems like a no brainer. Get the same amount of gate revenue and make it a better product with less wear and tear on the players.

Speaking of FIBA, someone elsewhere on the internet posted a comment to the effect of "It's crazy that a bunch of people tuned in to watch the best players play ball with limited breaks, very few ads, and decent refs and Adam Silver said 'clearly it's the 10 min quarters thats drawing in fans'".

I do not want to watch two teams jack up 100 threes in a game.

Maybe admit 3pts shooting end ups a bad innovation for the games and just erased it like basketball was played before ?
Or just say : the first 5 3s in a quarter will count but the line « disappeared » at the 6th attempt ?
Or just make the 3pts available only in the 4th quarter to spice up the game ?
Ps: personally I would just ban it , make a reconnection with old time great and their eras , where its just didn’t exist and be able to compare numbers again …

Hayes best +/- among all Lakers, doesn't seem like he's the problem.
Hayes is a problem in the sense he isn't very good and not a starting caliber center
but Luka/LeBron just haven't played that well in these games

The real “fix” to many of the cited issues is a new rule where teams cannot hire analytics teams or video analysts. You are allowed a head coach, doctors / strength and conditioning coaches and front offices are allowed a GM and assistant GM with legal counsel.
Overtime the middy will return, less offensive complexity, etc.
