This might be the greatest two legged tie I've ever seen

Just so frustrating they couldn't just hold the ball up in the end, or park the bus when losing it. Makes no sense to have so few defending low in that spot, no matter what your philosophy.

What an amazing two legged tie it gave us though.

pau cubarsi is incredibly talented and great on the ball so it is overlooked how many defensive mistakes he actually makes. the penalty is clumsy. he loses the header on the 3-3. he gets his position of the 4-3 header wrong then doesnt close down the goalscorer later etc

gerard martin is awful too but he does his best and how many teams have a decent backup leftback anyway?

It's crazy how quick he can pull the trigger, he basically does a Robben but without even having to stride fully past the defender, which means often the goalkeeper cannot see the ball until well after he's taken the shot. And then he also mixes it up with the crosses (that can improve but could have yielded a nice Lewandowski comeback goal) and some shots at the near post (literally yesterday, unluckily).

Already there are moments where other teammates are in a better position, should already be making runs and asking for the ball, yet they walk around and circle back to a Yamal who is still catching his breath from dribbling past 2. Déjà vu to a frustrating time not so long ago.

Somehow Sommer's anticipation was perfect last night or he would have had one or two again despite his double/triple marking.
