TV: what have you been watching?

I think The Walking Dead may be the best drama thats currently airing/in production.

There, I said it.

GoT is probably the one highly acclaimed show I haven't been able to bring myself to watch. Not a big fantasy guy at all, and knowing that everyone hates the ending doesn't help either...that pretty much always ruins the whole thing for me.

the bad seasons at the end are still popcorn fun, just not the elite stuff we grew accustomed to, had the show started at the penultimate season and never gave us those great years before it'd just be known as a typical show nothing special but also nothing to ridicule

watch the pilot of GOT, if you find yourself not liking it after 10-15 minutes then it's not for you

i stopped watching it once they began involving the daughter, no idea what season that was but i saw a few in a row that i thought were duds and just decided no more

the daughter was one of the worst characters in TV history.

The Bureau is unmatched

#1

Good documentary about drugs.

by riverboatking k

wow.

was really looking forward to presumed innocent, the movie was so good.

only 2 episodes released so far but good lord sooooooooooooooo bad
they removed all the best parts of the movie and it's just laughably bad.

Some of these series could be done in a two hour movie. I couldn't finish Eric because it dragged so much. I watched the first episode of Presumed Innocent, which could have been done in twenty minutes. Hardly needed flashbacks.

well the irony it was done in a movie and the movie was fantastic.

there were all kinds of cool approaches they could have taken but instead they just went with awful.

There were some duds right after she got involved but the last season is excellent and has the best finale of any show probably ever.

Yeah watched the first 4 of PI and it is awful so rewatched the movie which is excellent.

The Bureau is amazing.

nice, will try it again

The Bureau is awesome. I'd put Gomorrah at #2, definitely the best thing I've seen in the last few years.

Sugar, starring Colin Farrell and directed by Fernando Meirelles is spectacular. Only 3 episodes in, and I love it. So beautifully shot and wonderfully written. And it's going places I wasn't expecting...and apparently, it goes somewhere else I haven't gotten to yet...

Yeah, then it all turns into garbage, sadly.

The PI remake has also turned out to be mostly awful thus far. I had hopes.

In honor of July the 4th I just started rewatching HBO's John Adams it been a while since I last watched it. Saw it when it first aired and the and rewatched maybe a year later but not since then. 2 episodes in and it's a frikken masterpiece! One of the absolute best things ever created for tv. And if you have never read the book do that asap.

ooh, i may have to rewatch that myself

ya john adams is fantastic.

For some reason I've never seen this before. 2 episodes in and it amazing. Great recommendation!

It gets weird (I didn't mind), and I liked the movies within the story.

If you liked The Bureau, you might like Fauda.

If you want another French show about the secret service, Au service de la France, A Very Secret Service is good. Opposite of The Bureau though - comedy set in the 60's and they are generally useless.

Sherlock is on Prime although you need to have the subscription to PBS to watch it. The first two seasons are great, but it tails off by the end. Still, though, one of my all time favorites.

Excellent recommendation. Finished last night. Thank you.

We stumbled onto this because we like Elizabeth Moss. Hadn't heard of it.

Top of the Lake Just finished season 1. Pretty dark stuff. Every character has a secret. Farfetched. But we really liked it.

Just started watching Review, it's brilliant. Why did I wait so long to try this anyway?

i avoided the boys because it felt like it'd be more of the starwars/marvel tv that is just god awful imo (only made it 1-2 episodes into loki, arrow, wandavision, & star wars stuff) but because this thread keeps on saying good things i gave it a shot

much more in the line of the watchmen, where it's a gritty and dark world with real and adult problems

just finished pilot and love it, i'm sure it'll turn downhill a bit but i'm in

i was of the exact same mindset as you don't watch any superhero stuff etc and I'm thru the 1st 2 seasons has not gotten any worse it's been absolutely fantastic.
