Our late departed Ruben was Roober Goober

My ex-girlfriend had four Border Collies, and they all had Jewish names and other names as well. I just used their Jewish names.

We had a cat named Ezra whose full name was Ezra From the Pound. My daughter used the full name when people asked the cat's name. Another cat was named Izzy because he hid all the time, so Izzy was short for "where is he."

Our dog was Chloe but I just called her Knucklehead.

Cro, condolences. People who don't have pets don't usually get how putting them down is a heartbreaking thing.

Knucklehead is a champion-class name. Everyone in this thread can now picture her in perfect detail.

One day, I hope soon, we will wake up to the news that the orange buffoon is dead. I long for that day.

I started a thread a couple days ago in that thriving marketplace of ideasβ€”the Stud subforumβ€”about a key HU hand in the recent $1500 Stud8 WSOP event, and it was promptly deleted.

It all happened so fast, too. We noticed she was trying to move at home, but she wouldn't move. We tried giving her water but she couldn't drink water. When we were taking her to the car in her carrier it hit me this could be her last trip to the vet. There was something about the way she looked, how she couldn't even lift her head. Luckily the vet and the folks there had good contact skills and made the process as respectful as could be. We didn't feel good about letting her feel anymore pain or discomfort, and it was the right thing to do.

My wife felt responsible because our cat just had a procedure earlier in the week to remove some teeth. She kept getting infections and removing her teeth would bring more comfort. Unfortunately she also had kidney issues and diabetes so any number of these things contributed to her final moments. I had to keep asking the vet questions to remove that blame and guilt my wife felt. The vet assured her that the meds she was on were appropriate, and the procedure to remove her teeth was routine and was an appropriate action to take.

I knew this day would come one day and always told myself I would be there for her during her final moments. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. Knowing that we had our final embrace, final words together. I feel broken inside and the tears have flowed fairly steadily since Friday night. My family is fairly broken up about her passing, too. My parents and my brother were close to her. My brother comes over once a week and he always made time to play with her, pet her, hold her.

An aside having nothing to do with anything here thus far - Had the movie Pig in my DVR for months & months; finally got around to watching it.I worked for me. Probably not everybody's cup of tea.4 avocados.

Forty odd years ago in a British heavy metal magazine, as only he and the Gallagher brothers can/could, Ozzy Osbourne unleashed a long drunken hilarious tirade about the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, culminating with β€œAnd you know who went down the best that weekend? ****ing Mungo Jerry! He brought out his ****ing jugs and blew everyone away.”

Cro, since the GF and I have lots of cats, we go through this somewhat regularly, and it's always hard and I always bawl. We have a tech from Lap Of Love come to the house and we get to cradle our lil loved ones as they go. The tech takes a plaster paw print and a tuft of fur for us to keep. They then take the remains to a place where it is cremated and we get a little urn back.we have a corner on a shelf with a small shrine with all the paw prints and urns and photos lol. It's cute and it helps.

But man, it's hard to let them go and to be their with them when it's time.

And for those of you with pets, please realize it's important to be there WITH your animals when it's time. They don't know what's happening and they are looking for comfort from their loved ones...I couldn't live with myself if I just gave them over to people they don't know, in a sterile vets' office, for their last moments.

Anyway...glad you feel you can share with us.

Why exactly did you respond to my post about Trump with a poker hand issue?

We got the paw prints as well as a tuft of fur. We're also going to get her cremated remains as well as a mould of her paw print. Who knew all of this stuff would be so dang pricey? heh She's worth it, though.

Thanks again everyone for your kind words. It's been several years since I've had a pet so this hits hard. I had a decent rest last night, though. Feel just a bit better today.

lol yes, it is pricey.

And it's definitely harder when it happens fast, you don't have time to prepare.

I've only had to do it once, but thought it would be easier if it was faster. Spending weeks/months agonizing over whether it was time or not was extremely unpleasant. Feeling guilty that I waited too long interspersed with feeling guilty I jumped the gun. I guess the hard truth is it's just never easy, no matter what.

Re: nicknames. I got the gold dog used, officially named Brandy by her original owner.

To me, she was always "dog", "the gold dog", or occasionally "punkinhead". Since she was such a good-natured beast always looking for fun, that latter seemed to fit for some reason.

But mostly, it was "C'mon, dog, let's go!"

Lucy: dog, dummy, and shithead are the most common, occasionally Lucy.

Ellie: aka Jumpin Jelly Bean, Ellie Buddy, Ellie Fker, Smelly Ellie, Ellie the Rascal. She's a mini schnauzer mix, a rescue from Mexico. We've had her for over a year? She keeps us busy!

In this pic she was grunting and low growling at the old man neighbor across the way who was doing some work on his deck.

Why exactly did you post about Trump in a Summertime Fun Lounge thread?

Also just generally curious why a post about wanting someone to die is OK on 2P2 but one about a WSOP hand involving a famous player—posted in the proper forum!—isn’t.

lol modsaments i guess.
