Thanks for all the pictures, nicknames & stories, and condolences to all. I’ve never owned a pet but I certainly get it.

A general comment regarding letting them go; imo people probably jumped the gun in previous generations, and probably wait too long today, and there is a whole industry built around the latter.

My Uncle Bill with Choo Choo, who was not accepted by their white poodle Pepe, so they gave him to their eldest daughter.

My friends’ cat Archie, who has a twin sister Stella he often bullies. You do not want to bring your dog over to their apartment. During Covid I was regularly passed out on their couch. One night they each got a nasty spider bite but I was unscathed. Thanks, buddy!

Why exactly did you post about Trump in a Summertime Fun Lounge thread?

Also just generally curious why a post about wanting someone to die is OK on 2P2 but one about a WSOP hand involving a famous player—posted in the proper forum!—isn’t.

lol modsaments i guess.

this is the low content thread...you can post anything you want in it...including your hand history...I asked why you posted it in response to my post. Not why you posted it.

Reading comprehension for the win, Brother.

Cro, since the GF and I have lots of cats, we go through this somewhat regularly, and it's always hard and I always bawl. We have a tech from Lap Of Love come to the house and we get to cradle our lil loved ones as they go. The tech takes a plaster paw print and a tuft of fur for us to keep. They then take the remains to a place where it is cremated and we get a little urn back

My daughter's friend has made a very successful business out of providing a similar service.

She sold hoodies and T-shirts that my daughter made and donated all the profits to an animal shelter in California after the fires there.

I posted the link for your curiosity, not as an endorsement.

Ellie: aka Jumpin Jelly Bean, Ellie Buddy, Ellie Fker, Smelly Ellie, Ellie the Rascal. She's a mini schnauzer mix, a rescue from Mexico. We've had her for over a year? She keeps us busy! In this pic she was grunting and low growling at the old man neighbor across the way who was doing some work on his deck.

she looks like a liberal reporter getting ready to ask Donald Trump a question

Well, I definitely should’ve posted the building photo separately.

Anyhoo, by request!

Remember, this is Stud 8. IMO, Huck made a bad mistake not betting out on 4th St, and he definitely should’ve folded on 6th St, what do the rest of you think?

Whole thing seems kinda standard to me. I'd have to watch them for a while to know if the call of Huck's completion with a 10c had any significance.

pretty sure that wasn't requested

lol it wasn't...I was just wanting to know why he posted that in response to my comment

why is everyone with an exotic name in america tends to play poker?

I don't have an exotic name, unless I throw in my middle name. Then I'm pure WASP, even though I was raised Catholic.

the archangel... seems pretty normal to me.

I don't have an exotic name...

Me neither. A cursory search says I'm not in the top 10 in the US, but I bet I'm not far off that.

ugh, i didn't mean only people with exotic names play poker

just that if your an american and your name is blaz then you assuredly spend a lot of time in casinos and card rooms

Right. I can't remember what that fallacy is called, but John and I are making a nice example of it.

Hasty generalization.

Blaz can’t have anything but a flush on 6th, and he could have had a low draw too. Huck went to Caltech, he’s got two Razz bracelets, but I think he just bungled this one. Be far from the first great player I’ve seen to get tangled up in a Stud 8 hand. He had to have had a 6 or QJ in the hole to have made it to 7th.

But Blaz probably doesn’t fold to a bet on 4th anyway.

Dude this made me laugh so ****ing hard. I showed the comment to my wife and she couldn't stop laughing. Thanks for brightening our day haha

I just wanted to post a blanket thank you to all of you who have offered words of comfort since I lost my cat. You have no idea how much you've helped me and my wife get through this difficult time.

Changing gears a bit. My dog Ellie is a rescue from Mexico. When she arrived, there was a whole picking up process. Numerous ppl meeting in a community hall parking lot, picking up dogs in their carriers from the back of a truck. It was quite the scene! As we were driving home with Ellie in the back seat, this song came up, "Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. It was the PERFECT song as we were taking Ellie to her forever home. We cried happy tears because the song took new meaning and the lyrics hit a lot harder. The chorus below

"Oh, home, let me come home
Home is wherever I'm with you
Oh, home, let me come home
Home is wherever I'm with you"

I think it helps that the music sounds like it could be the theme song in an old 80s movie where the dog is voiced by Bruce Willis and the sassy cat is voiced by Meg Ryan or some ****.

Fast forward one year. We had the day marked on our calendar when she came home. So we made plans to go to her favorite park and have a nice day together. As I'm pulling out of our parking lot, "Home" starts playing on the radio. It was so ****ing bizarre. At first my wife thought I hit play on a playlist on Spotify, but nope, it was the same local radio station that played the song a year ago on that day. It was the weirdest and most beautiful coincidence.

oh i do have an idea, because many of the same people have helped us during similar situations. spouse still doesn't quite understand how strangers on the internet can be so nice.

and that was a beautiful Ellie story...you should incrementally create your own music video to the song with a slideshow of your times together...what a time capsule that could be.

did you know there's a pet thread in OOT?

No specific road trips planned, but I'm going to Ireland in two weeks for some golf and other stuff with a friend from high school and college.

Went last year with two women and saw quite a bit, but looking forward to checking out other areas this time.

Might also take a short trip with one friend from high school to N. Carolina to visit another friend from high school. Will probably drive.

And I figure a trip for a few days to California to visit cousins from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo to LA.

Fortunate to have four months off during the summer.

hey uncle john, which courses did the group select?

by REDeYeS00 m

hey uncle john, which courses did the group select?

Ceann Sibéal Golf Club (Dingle), Carne, Cork Golf Club, and Dromoland. Maybe a quick nine holes at Castlegregory.

Tried to book Old Head but no tee times available, and we tried two months ago.

Basically playing courses near where we're staying.

15-20 years ago Golf Digest had a feature on walking/golfing/drinking tours of N Ireland. The pictures were enchanting to put it mildly. I don’t know anyone who’s ever been to Ireland who didn’t love it; I’ve never been.

I was born in SF, haven’t been back since December 2016. I’m jealous, have fun. I’ve heard the PCH south of SF has some serious detours right now.
