Happy Friday! It's been a long day/week and it feels good to settle into my lazyboy with a G 'n T in hand. Plan to zone out to some mindless TV, sip a few cocktails and then doze off to west coast baseball. Basically a perfect Friday night 😀

I never owned a recliner until a month ago when I was given a La-z-boy. Now I don't think I could live without one.

I got my first recliner after my first paycheck after graduating from grad school. To me at that time in my life it was acheiving the American dream 😀 That was 1987. Eventually that lazyboy wore out and I replaced one week before the Bears 2006 Superbowl loss. I got to watch them lose is a comfy new chair.

I am sitting in that chair right now (20 years later) and I gotta tell you it is cashed and I need a new one. I am waiting though. It's still okay but will wait until I eventually move out of the shithole that is Illinois.

Now that I have the summer off, I can't quite keep track of what day it is. Basically, I don't even try. Thanks to Mrbaseball, I know it's Friday.

Going to see Jacob Collier with the Boston Pops this week with my daughter. I've never been to the Pops.

Watching the full contact NBA playoffs and the OKC and SAS games are really good.

I could really go for a gin and tonic, but I still can't bring myself to drinking alone. If I go by myself to a bar, am I drinking alone?

Got a letter from CO Dept of Revenue saying I owed a penalty. Naturally, the cover letter is generic, not giving a concrete reason why.

It does show, however, a Tax/Fee column, a Penalty column, and a Credit column. The first and last show I paid the tax amount exactly, and the balance is just the penalty. (It's not huge, but not nothing, either).

Unfortunately, the Tax/Fee and Credit numbers are not the amount of tax I paid. Nor the estimated payment amount for this year. None of the numbers combine to make the amount on my return that I paid, or their number.

Found out how to file a protest online. Sent them copies of the checks they cashed for 2026 and 2026 Q1 and explained I had no idea where they were coming up with any of their numbers.

I expect this to grind through the machinery with no specific explanation, and I end up sending them the penalty. Sigh.

Anybody recognize the woman? She was likely more famous than Jack, prior to Cuckoo’s Nest.
