A few years ago they raised the maximum table game bet to $400, but kept the limit for poker bets at $300. That made me wonder if the rooms didn't want the poker bet max to be increased. Does anyone know any more about how that happened?

As you're probably aware, WA does not have NL poker...it is spread-limit w/ maximum betting restrictions. A few years before covid, tribal gaming (2nd largest political lobby group in the state) convinced the legislature to increase max bets to $500 in tribal rooms, but only $300 in non-tribal, giving the tribes an effective monopoly on 'big bet' poker. Then the 3 major (tribal) Seattle area casinos closed their poker rooms during covid and have no intention of ever bringing them back. In 2023, the non-tribals were granted an increase to $400, to "help keep them competitive" with tribe-owned casinos.

There is a LOT of disposable income in the Seattle area, but many of those folks will never walk into a Fortune or Caribbean type of card room. Instead, private home games have become the norm.

It wouldn't surprise me if the tribal lobby gets the limit raised again. It should also be noted they have a monopoly on sports betting and have killed any efforts to legalize online poker/gaming. They generally get what they want because they throw piles of cash at an issue until it goes their way.

Yeah, I get that, but why was only the table game limit raised to $400 and not the poker as well?

I dont think any specific reasoning was given for the difference. But poker has always been treated differently than other gambling due to some archaic laws in the state. Its possible there's a conspiracy...someone of influence just hates poker. Or Eric Perrson offended the wrong person. But most likely its just ignorance and apathy.

While the 'Big 3' dont currently offer poker, and have no plans to, should they change their mind at some point they would certainly prefer a competitive edge. So Im sure they're against raising the max bet for non-tribal.

And there's not a 'win' for legislators to push for it. It doesn't offer any additional revenue for them, it doesn't secure votes they dont already have...it will never be a priority.

The official stance of WA government is that all gambling is evil. Unless it's offered by a tribal nation.

Aces poker lakewood, saturday 4pm full room, 10+ deep wait list for 1/3

Poker isn't dead in Lakewood. I've never seen Aces MLT at max capacity.

I did very good at 1/3 in lakewood, but it's an hour drive. Their food is atrocious.

Also LOL, the 6/12 O8 game died before 4pm. I think it's because:

- the Koreans have treated it as there personal home game for too long. One of the biggest regs was banned for 24h a couple months ago due to their usual shenanigans.
- also, they are BABs so that the 6/12 10/20 kill is not sustainable

I went to the front desk, the lady was so focused on counting cash she ignored be until the korean guy behind me prompted me to be like YO WTF

What are "BABs"?

What are "BABs"?

Broke-Ass-B****es

*Their term, not mine!

The Shelton retired persons poker club aka the Sunday O8 game at LC had two tables with a list. Took the olds for $32.

The rake is 3+3 and the hourly HH is $50. Thats 16.67 hands/hour for the $3 drop to hit $50.

Jameson is still there, he's a great dealer. One of the fastest. I wonder how/why these dealers move around the area; one of Little Creek's dealers also works at caribbean in kirkland!

I also got updated to a sweet room in tower one; unfortunately the floor started reeking of fryer oil at 6am and the smell stuck around. Wierd, eh

While this may be true regarding home games existing as a thing, Fortune / Aces Caribbean are packed on the weekends with lists 10-20+ deep.

So, yeah. I'm not the type of player who'd be invited to a home game 😃

Had another great stay at Little Creek, pro tip:

Putting a couple bucks in the tip box at the Cafe got me 20% off my order (she applied the senior discount lol), two ranches and a heartfelt thank you!

I'm trying to spread more cash around. I've also started tipping housekeeping, which I never really did.

I think a lot of people are taking advantage of the one free night deal; the casino was packed on a Sunday.

pro tip #2:

get in line for the hotel 5-10 minutes before official checkin time. 5 minutes after checkin time, the area was flooded. prior, maybe 2-3 people.

At the slo pitch in Bellingham. 3 tables 1/3, waiting for the big o.

Sat down flopped set of deuces

Games run till 245am according to dealer. O8 didn't run on Thursday

They use this player pro app to track hours, floor writes comps

Got a $25 free play?

Gomma try a burger I think

Burger is very good!

The game is lively. No one wants to move to the main game

Big o seat ready!

Roughly 4 hours later, started with $200

4/8 5c O8, 8/16 kill

Donked off half my stack early, added on $100.

Now at roughly $500

Lots of people at the bar and in the pit

Burger bacon was $10.90 after 50% off

caribbean and aces lynwood? which one to go to?

both basically equadistant.

chose Carib due to better food and atmosphere. Ordered from the vietnamese menu for the first time; the pork sausage bun noodles was delicious and just as good as Fortune's.

Table was active. Left +155 due to a lucky bomb pot

Apparently 7 dealers called out this Saturday. That's pretty crazy!

I need to come back for the Friday prime rib
