Have you heard of the chick that dates the guy on the Chiefs?

by gobbledygeek k

Even though I know a couple of guys here are huge Tay Tay fans, she just ain't my thing.

I also do not get Tay Tay but goddamn her fans are nutso. It’s the closest thing to The Beatles or Michael that I’ve ever seen (obviously The Beatles reactions are all old videos).

Let me know what shirt size you all would like

oh man i need one of those

When she breaks off from him, the Chiefs are DONE and I'll be here for it.
Or she softens him up so much that the Chiefs are DONE and I'll be here for that too.

Always think I'm gonna like The Midnight more than I do...not sure why
Editors were (are??) a cool band for sure similar to Bloc Party in a way

I only discovered The Midnight because they used one of their songs in my favorite movie last year, Terrifier 2.

I loved Editors in college and then completely forgot their existence…until I went to Twitter and asked for suggestions “if all I like is The National and Frightened Rabbit” and someone replied with Editors and I was like “holy **** I used to be obsessed with them!”

I mean if this is your wheelhouse then give a try to some of the ones I recced. There Will Be Fireworks is basically a Frabbit/Twilight Sad mash up. From Scotland as well.

I like to refer to him as Young Garick. In fact, mods, please to be making davo’s undertitle, “Garick’s Son.”

Just witnessed a fun “is poker a game for gentlemen?” dilemma:

$1-$2 game. Two short-stacks who are down big say they are gonna bet $100 blind preflop and check it down. They ask if anyone else wants to do it. I agree. But on the next hand, UTG—who didn’t agree—limps in for $2. Me and the other two guys say “that’s not right, we need the rest of the table to agree to let us do it” so it plays as a normal hand. UTG apologized and says he won’t interfere. Ok. So as the dealer starts shuffling me an

It would not be me, because I would have not agreed.

However, if I did agreed I would fold kings. That’s not a “poker lie”, that’s a meta-lie, making it very very wrong.

Me personally I let the boys gamble, and don’t agree to their antics, but usually I just end up folding because I consider it a blind shove, so looking for 99+.

Just confirmed that Dave-O does indeed have his shirt tucked in fanny pack photo.

No, sir. 5 years older than me too.

I know for a fact trees do not bend when you hit them. I nailed one on my dirt bike in a race going 25-30 mph. To this day I wonder how fast or whatever someone is going in such a tight space to get killed skiing/snowboarding. When I ride trees I slow way the hell down and am also mindful of not crushing my head into one.

Notwithstanding the fact that I’m guessing some people do indeed go way too fast through trees, my guess is that a lot of the fatalities/serious head injuries are just people getting unlucky in terms of location they got hit and the angle the contact happened at

I’ve had two serious concussions from my rugby career and a few other less serious ones but by far the two hardest pieces of contact I took (one of them a full on running punt to the head by a lunatic) didn’t result in concussions or any obvious lasting damage

Squid’s the concussion/head trauma expert (not a title anyone should want), so he’ll have a far better perspective

Trees are low tide right now, and there are plenty of widowmakers hiding just below the surface. Fairly easy to go a reasonable speed, hit a log, and get tossed. It's also easy to ski the tree line of a trail and get tossed in.

I've knocked a few in my day. Banged one in the shoulder hard enough to knock the wind out of me in Union Meadows at Copper. I hit a log across the trail in Eagle Wind at Winter Park that sent me feet over head. Knocked my GoPro off and dented my helmet.

I now traverse more in the trees rather than always riding the fall line because it's easier to control speed. Which means I'm mostly worried about tree wells.

Speaking of concussions. APDjr got one on Friday when we met up with King Spew and Turtle. Scary stuff as a dad to watch your little one all jacked up like that.

Stay safe all.

Why did they post a blind at all? They are supposed to sit out if they don't want a silly pot.

Snow biker hit a little girl, then her father at Keystone a coupla days ago. He's in hospital in critical condition. (internal injuries). Kid was OK and released.

You guys that go into the trees/backcountry/steeps are wearing protective gear, right?

Be safe while having fun.

I read about that one. I hope they caught that guy. POS!

Yes, and not the cheap stuff. I’m the same way with my motocross gear. Helmet is always the most important to me.

Im good at gambool. Im moar good at action sports. I have spent my life pursuing that perfect adrenaline buzz while trying to manage risk appropriately. Dunning Krueger is very real in all of the sports I partake in. Most overestimate their skillset and that can really bite u. I was exteremely lucky to make it through my 20s hanggliding. I made an absolute ton of bad choices.

Over the years I have had countless pals die or get mangled. One of my dear buddies got really fuct up landing short on a massive gap jump. He literally was one of the best skiers in tahoe (which at the time was the epicenter for extreme stuff). They say he got unlucky, but did he? When u r doing something with high consequence and you have a 95% success rate it doesnt take doing that thing a ton of times before you are likely to eventually hit that 5 percenter and get fuct.

The old “running out of talent.”

I have been invited for a second round of interviews—this one is in person. My poker-playing days may soon be over!

QUESTION: should I mention poker in my interview? They’re gonna ask what I’ve been doing these last six months—is answering “working 20 hours a week at a Doggy Day Care” worse than saying I’m also a poker player?

I don’t know. I think I’ll randomize and only mention poker if I’m interviewing with a man—IOW, it’ll be an extremely low frequency play (cuz we all know HR staffs are dominated by women).

Probably more downside than upside to mentioning poker. The fact that you have the dog stuff to mention while omitting poker means you wouldn’t be completely fibbing. You can also say you’ve been spending time watching online trainings and / or reading up to gain knowledge in areas that are at least somewhat relevant and valuable to the job you’re applying for. Go with your gut though.
