I just see off hand comments about this but can't find any info on it.
From my knowledge I don’t think trooper scammed him. But could be wrong I don’t know.
When trooper first moved here maybe about a year in he busted his BR as usual and got staked by someone, who I believe was known to be pure aggression, but I didn’t come along until later so just piecing this together myself and could be wrong. Trooper ended up down on the stake, but I believe did the right thing and paid Carl back I thought.
I believe they’ve had several videos over the years, carl shows up at trooper Thursday a number of times, don’t think there’s any bad blood between them but don’t know.
I enjoy carl a lot, always seemed very nice
If what he said in his vlog is true then he is probably tipping more than half of his hourly away to dealers earning at least 3x what he's making. That combined with the fact he insists on filling for New York State income tax while residing and working in Vegas warms my black heart.
If true, because you never know if anything posted here is true or made up, that's really dumb. NV doesn't have state income tax, so that's where he should be filing.
Diesel said that is what he does in a video several months back. A few other things he said about his taxes didn't make sense either.

pure aggression seems like a really good dude.
That would suck if he backed trooper as it doesn't seem like his roll was ever deep enough to back anyone.
I do think the trooper has the potential of being a good player, but he is the type to play well for 7.5 hours and lose all his profits in 1 or 2 hands, the mike matusow blow up type.
I think he holds grudges against players that he thinks are donks or that sucked out on him and tries to pull off a stupid bluff on them to show them who's boss and he ends up spewing his stack away.

Saw PA playing at Mandalay Bay in early December. TBH he looked in rough shape / angry, did not say a word the entire session. This was the days leading up to the move of the poker room next to the sports book prior to the stairs leading down from the tram.

PA eventually did admit to backing him. I don’t know about scamming, just the way it was done was suspicious because Trooper kept a lot of the details secret. I do remember Trooper continuing to get crushed at the tables. Of course, being secretive about the details and saying it’s none of our business isn’t proof there is a scam. It just looks suspicious.
To my knowledge PA never accused Trooper of scamming him and thought this thread was a negative haters thread.
Some people probably think PA is too nice which possibly makes him an easier target to “scam.”
Fwiw was Trooper repeatedly trying to convince his audience that he was a crusher at the tables, which could have helped convince PA to back him. The vlog was repeatedly telling the audience that he was just running incredibly bad.
Trooper once also put up some suspicious stats to try and show he didn’t need coaching. The stats weren’t wrong; he just showed them in a way that made it look like he was doing better than he was. He made a video about it calling it a shocking revelation or something like that and tried to show he was breaking even in recent sessions instead of being on a downswing.
But I think Trooper really believed he could win $25-$30 an hour so in his mind he wouldn’t think he was scamming anyone. He was going to start running much better and crush the game. So of course it would make sense to back him.

I definitely think he thought he was winning alot more than he was, and like alot of people used "running bad" as a crutch and explanation as to why he wasnt winning more. Something almost everybody does or has done at some point, but being in gambling so long its easy to spot when someone is doing that.

I think theres alot of reasons to goof on or criticize trooper, but i dont think this is one of them. Can make fun of him for being 40+ being backed to play 1-2, thats pretty funny to begin with.

But if el diesel listened to a coach he'd beat 2/5 easily, his nomad status would enable him to find the juiciest games at that level, he could actually make a good living. I like el diesel so I actually really want him to do this. Trooper is less capable I think, but why would he think he's above coaching? That's crazy.

As has been mentioned before the two main things that keep El D from doing this are 1) his unwillingness to listen to others 2) in order to maximise win rate at 2/5 he would have to embrace bigger swings which seems to be completely against his nature

According to Diesel he makes more money than he needs, so no point for him moving up to earn more money. If anything he could move down to a 1/1 game is that was possible. He wins more money than he needs, so he should be looking to have even smaller swings. Instead of him losing his shyt when having a 200 losing day, he could be losing only 100 on the worst days. Way to go imo.
