General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread
OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.
Just an observation.
Couple of cokey shows:
Farina/Cocaine Coast - Based on real life, about smugglers on the coast of Spain, helping the Columbians traffic in drugs, and the operation to take them down.
Queen of the South - Follows a Mexican woman’s rise from nothing to a cartel boss.
Watching S2 of The Mosquito Coast on Apple TV. It's OK, good production value and acting is pretty solid, but the plot gets a little silly sometimes. Basically every episode is the parents doing something dumb that almost kills them and their kids.
I was going to watch that, but then I read this:
Apple has cancelled the drama series, The Mosquito Coast, after two seasons. The streaming service will not continue with a third season of the series starring Justin Theroux and Melissa George, despite the Season 2 series finale ending with a major cliffhanger, according to a recent report by Deadline.
I will never understand people complaining about movies that are "unrealistic." they're movies, not reality. Entertainment. It doesn't matter that there was a gunfight in the middle of NYC an no cops came until after it was over.
Stop thinking of movies and TV as reflections of reality and you'll start seeing some amazing art, instead.
I like big dumb action as much, if not more, than anyone here but that part of Reacher was excessively egregious.
Framing is also important for this as Reacher attempts to keep things fairly grounded with his deduction skills keeping everything logical and reasonable. If it was the expendables would be a lot easier to ignore.

I enjoyed s1. Stopped s2 after a few eps.

Agree with you. Everything is dependent on the framework of the show/movie. A show like the Soprano's can't stray too far into dumb action where as John Wick it is expected to be over the top.
if a character is less real to us, we will connect with that character less. so when fake stuff happens, it makes the characters less real to us.
maybe. just a theory. could be wrong, cuz sometimes the character we're connecting with is like a dragon or spiderman or something lol
I want to make it clear that I'm differentiating between a suspension of disbelief that makes watching enjoyable, and bad writing/plot points/production that is just bad TV/film.
I'm enjoying The Crown.
Is it just me, but the older the queen gets the more colder and detached from reality she gets and now I can't stand her in S4.
Loved Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, her voice is kinda creepy though lol.
The Crown is great
god told me i am your ruler. you all need to fight and die for me whenever i say. and give me multiple palaces. and always bow to me. and my children. and their children. and thank me for it.
Would you please give it up?
Death and Other Details starts today on Hulu. Looks kinda like White Lotus. Reviews not looking great right now.
Watched the first two eps of Criminal Record, pretty good crime drama so far. The real intrigue is the battle between Cush Jumbo's detective and Peter Capaldi's possibly corrupt cop. The best scenes are where they're at loggerheads. Capaldi is incredibly good at conveying a lot without loud, extravagant acting. I expect the scene where he does cut loose will be even more impactful as a result.
The English probably could have been cut down to feature length. But it got pretty great by the end.
Whenever the Melmont character was on-screen was gold.

I watched the first three episodes and this is a good show. The battle of wills between detectives is building nicely.
Upright season 2 was a worthy second season even after a 4 year gap. If you enjoyed season 1, then season 2 is a must see good time.
it really sucks that netflix got rid of the thumbs down button, and other streaming sites don't have it.
seems like a great feature to be able to tell a site you don't like a show, so they don't keep making you scroll past it all the time
like there is 0 benefit for anyone for making me scroll past a show over and over. it just wastes energy and time
Finished Reacher S2 last night and it was...just okay. Not as good as Season 1 and apparently they are going back to him on his own for Season 3, which I'm happy about. The final episode felt like they packed most of the season into fifteen minutes.

The thumbs down button is still there for me.
Hollywoke doesnt want you to hurt the movie’s feelings
Monarch is a slow paced, badly acted, messily plotted show with at least one pointless main character (May). Avoid.
Half way through the last episode of Reacher...
