Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Vic the commish already handed out the trophy to the champs. You can't really undo that now.
There may be another conflict/thread we can do this over. But this one for you is over now. Your watch has ended.

as for your second part, as I have said many times, I am not going to tell the Gazans how to resist and I am not going to disparage the resistance.
do you think Israel should unconditionally release of the civilians they have kidnapped? do you think Israel should stop bombing civilians? stop starving the population? stop shooting starving people chasing food?
You did indeed
let me look into my crystal ball.
well, I guess I would choose a baby over adult, all things equal.
bloodthirsty Zionists in this thread: you are lying! we know the real answer! you cant fool us!
Sorry vic I missed your answer, fair play.
Right. So if we love seeing dead babies then by that rationale you support innocent civilians being kidnapped and held against their will?
Not interested in your attempts at moral equivalence. If you need to have the difference between kidnapped ravers and militant suspects being detained actually pointed out to you then I don't know what to tell ya except you're one deluded mfr and that's being kind.
The hostages had nothing to do with nothing. There's also non Israeli foreign hostages. Speaks volumes you don't feel comfortable answering what should be blindingly easy to answer.
Funny none of y’all answered the question
Is it ok to kill innocent civilians
Anyway before you ask Victor If he would choose the Hamas or child, would someone choose a child or an adult to save?
At least establish a baseline
I actually answered this question. I want to see zero Palestinians die.
Sadly Hamas put them in this place, and could end this tomorrow if they’d release the hostages and surrender.
We know that won’t happen because they don’t care about their own people.
I never mentioned Gazan babies, stop going off on other tangents. Would you save the Hamas fighter or baby?
Oh and do you think Hamas should unconditionally release the civilian hostages they kidnapped and are holding against their will?
He doesn’t, and won’t answer the question.
When he finally addresses it, he won’t give a real answer. It’ll be the same usual Vic bs.
It does seem like this thread has hit a wall.

Considering none of those are actually true, no.

bolded is not based on facts. it really does get tiresome rehashing these same points and looking up all the articles.
Israel has detained an order of magnitude more civilians and children than Gaza ever could. and this ofc includes the West Bank where many of the children released during the cease fire have been rearrested.
why are you asking Hamas to do something that you would not ask Israel to do?
As Victor pointed out, the author of the cartoon identifies as Jewish. So it is fair to say anti-semitism is probably not the prime motivating factor of the cartoon. Whether that is Victor's prime motive is another question.
As I have noted before, there is no indication Victor even really recognizes Jewish identity enough to be prejudiced against it. He kind of just assigns Israeli in as an avatar of "Western liberalism," and critiques it along these lines.
I think you are all on the wron
Now you're getting it. And there's also his constant comparisons of Israelis to Nazis as well as his constant Holocaust comparisons. Those are standard anti Semitic tropes.
so as to the rapes, when Israel allows for an independent investigation and it concludes some of this stuff was true, then ofc I will accept it. but well, Israel denied any outside investigations.
now rachel i know this has been a very difficult time and you probably want to go home to whatever is left of your family, but there's a neutral third party on the way who will put some testing instruments up your vagina for independent rape verification purposes. no need to worry, he's a qualified medical professional.
so, if you'll just hold on a while we'd all be very grateful

Unfortunately there are a lot of self hating jews

Every country on Earth detains criminal suspects, some for years before they go to trial. Serial killers Mark Dutroux in Belgium and Lonnie Franklin Jr in America were detained for seven and 6.5 years respectively before going to trial. And by being detained they weren't kidnapped but detained as criminal suspects by the state. Why don't you just answer the question? The hostages kidnapped by Hamas aren't criminal suspects detained by a state. So should Hamas unconditionally release them or not? Just answer the question and stop trying to squirm out of it.

well if Israel considers them criminal suspects then what kind I say? guess they deserve it.
now, do we afford Hamas the same ideals? maybe they consider these people to be criminal suspects?
Hamas, who know they'll never be allowed to return to power, don't have anything much left to bargain with except the remaining hostages, so it's going to be difficult to extract those.
its actually not difficult. they could have been extracted on Oct 8th. Hamas offered a like for like trade and an end to hostilities.
they are still offering the same.

At present Israel won't attend the Cairo talks because they say Hamas won't confirm which hostages are still alive. There is of course a lot of positioning and temporising going on, but Hamas are in some existential difficulty once they surrender the hostages, so I wouldn't necessarily blame the whole problem on the Israelis.
