as for your second part, as I have said many times, I am not going to tell the Gazans how to resist and I am not going to disparage the resistance.

Sadly Hamas put them in this place, and could end this tomorrow if they’d release the hostages and surrender.

Israel has detained an order of magnitude more civilians and children than Gaza ever could. and this ofc includes the West Bank where many of the children released during the cease fire have been rearrested.

Serial killers Mark Dutroux in Belgium and Lonnie Franklin Jr in America were detained for seven and 6.5 years respectively before going to trial. And by being detained they weren't kidnapped but detained as criminal suspects by the state. Why don't you just answer the question? Hamas, who know they'll never be allowed to return to power, don't have anything much left to bargain with except the remaining hostages, so it's going to be difficult to extract those.

At present Israel won't attend the Cairo talks because they say Hamas won't confirm which hostages are still alive. There is of course a lot of positioning and temporising going on, but Hamas are in some existential difficulty once they surrender the hostages, so I wouldn't necessarily blame the whole problem on the Israelis.
