This whole middle eastern wedding fetish is so weird to me. Back home, a Turkish friend, pretty regular dude, starting saving up 500 bucks a month when he found out he was having a daughter in order to pay for her future wedding. Apparently people will look down on you if you don't invite 300+ people to your wedding? An Iranian friend spent a couple hundred grand on his wedding because they had to fly everyone to some vineyard in Italy. I couldn't make it but they would have paid for my flight from the US.

In NFL legal news, Rashee Rice has been charged with two felonies and other stuff. Sounds like the standard way of charging high so there's something decent left once they agree on a plea deal. I doubt the Chiefs expect him back before their bye week though.

Here (apparently) the custom among many of the ‘new Australian’ communities is to pay for large, lavish weddings, let everyone know what the cost per head is and then ask for cash gifts where the expectation is that people give around the same $$ as the cph

Edit: asked groomsman to confirm. He said he won’t name names cuz he doesn’t want to risk me ruining relationships. He has now confirmed there were 9 people present, 4 women. I had thought it was 7 people
