I'm calling it here first. I think Diesel gets a dealing job of some form going forward if he gets hired at Orleans and see how much more money he'll make vs his woeful win rate at poker. He will easily 3x to 5x his earn which for him means he can retire in a year or two.Either he'll try to get a cash game dealing job or maybe he'll travel the circuit dealing tourneys since t
even up here in crappy Dakota or Montana you can make $25-30/hr as a weekend tournament dealer, sometimes working 35+ hours for their bigger event weeks. I do it occasionally as it doesn't always fit my family and other employment lifestyle. but some other guys do.
working WSOP or Vegas circuits or or casinos is a good gig for a single guy.
$1 cheeseburgers was not too long ago.
I remember back to $.15 burgers at McDonalds and a sign which had a running total that said something like over 50 million served, and the numbers would change unti eventually it simply read "Millions Served"
Yes, I remember the X millions served signs and probably the last time I had a regular burger and cheeseburger there they were .39 and .49.
The good old days was the specials running of $1 Big Mac's and $1 Whoppers.
Psycho babble in your mind, but most certainly based on truth. If you sent this thread to 10 psychologists and had them read through it, I would confidently say no less than 8 out of 10 would categorize several regular posters in here as having some of the traits I've mentioned. No doubt about it.
I guess if you felt like all that time you spent watching Dr. Phil was worth it, then fair play to you.
I love that being a dealer is a big come up for el diesel.
Please keep giving us advice diesel you’re so knowledgeable!!!
I will be surprised if Rice starts the job, and shocked  if he keeps the job.
Important to remember Diesel wanted to only work at WSOP, dealing doubles at the cash tables, and only if he got free rooms at Paris/Horseshoe not Rio due to the longer commute. He also hinted at his mixed game knowledge and that he could be a high stakes mixed game dealer.
Now, he’s auditioning to be a tourney dealer at Orleans for a free room and to order off the discounted union worker menu. If that isn’t a clear admission that inflation is real, I don’t know what is. If he becomes a traveling dealer aka a carnie, that will be even better.
I’m pulling for diesel to get the dealer gig and hold on to it for dear life.

I wish him success. But his ability to deal razz, plo, stud, lowball, triple draw, Big O, etc…is very doubtful.
Arrogance doesn’t make it so.
There has to be dumpster diving opportunities at the Orleans. With his gift of gab he may be able to talk his way into many stale bagels

I forgot about the "long commute" thing to the Rio- from a guy who drives cross country multiple times a year and often stays at Airbnbs way off strip. Great stuff.
They just need muppets to deal holdem. They ain't putting rice in a mix game, in my opinion!
Troopers latest is about how their sales are sucking buttocks

He might not GET the job. I can see this kind of conversation:
Orleans: Where have you worked as a dealer?
El D: I haven't.
Orleans: Okay, which dealing school did you attend?
El D: I don't need a school for such an easy job. Any idiot can deal!
Orleans: Next!

That might actually be good for him. He likes driving all over the country anyway. There are barnstormer dealers that follow the WSOP Circuit. Apparently it pays well enough for normal people to deal at them, Diesel's going to think he hit the mother lode.

The food court at the Orleans is right next to the poker room though, so he's not going to get many takers by volunteering to go fetch the food.

I remember a cheeseburger, small fries and a Coke. You gave them a buck and got a nickel back in change.
I'm currently at the airport in Amsterdam. The food joint next to my gate wants 18 euros for a hamburger.
This is why you need to go to lounge in the airport (not saying that you paid €18 for a hamburger!)
If El D ever found his way into an airport lounge he might implode with the possibilities of all the stuff he could take
It really is a perfect place for him, it’s a room of retired people living on social security or pensions or government benefits who play small stakes and complain about rules all the time. He’ll be very popular I imagine it he can get the job. Any person under 30 doesn’t watch baseball, but luckily for him, most men who are 70 years old, do! So they’ll love to hear his baseball trivia, and know who John olerud is!
WTF
I thought Rice flew to SF on his way to feast at The French Laundry.
It appears he is just scouting a lot in the homeless encampment.

Infidel!
They are conducting virtual auditions, so he can forward his YouTube video, and they will give him Jack Effel 's job.
