Everyone hates Jews. I've been saying this for years here and no one would believe me. Ok, not everyone, but anyone who hates other groups and isn't Jewish hates Jews. Every hater who is anti-Black or anti-Hispanic or anti-Muslim also hates Jews. If they have some reason to align with Israel in the moment and it helps them argue to call other people antisemites, they'll do that, but don't trust their sincerity. Racists are racist period and if they pick some flavor of minority they pretend to like, that's a tactic to try to show they aren't racist.

Nowhere in the diaspora in the last 70 years or so -- not France, not England, not the US, not anywhere -- has seen anything like Oct 7. The fond notion of Israel, pretty much the most contested spot on Earth, being some kind of secure 'lifeboat' for Jews is pure fancy. The country's whole occupation policy since 1967, and its aggressive refusal to recognise lawful borders, has put its own security in permanent question.

I hadn't heard this so looked it up. There has been a marked increase in Jewish people emigrating from France to Israel, and anecdotal (though unverified because numbers are hard to obtain) evidence from London's Jewish communities of French Jews arriving in greater numbers.

Maybe we should talk less about anti-Semitism in London and more about it in France.
