I'm sure some of you know Mike Chen on Youtube. I used to follow him but haven't been keeping up with his videos since maybe the end of pandemic times. Anyways, he's released two videos of Vegas spots recently.
The videos are a mix of casual and fine dining. I'll mark the casual dining part, but I think all parts are worth watching.

GangNam Premium AYCE (Wagyu level $45.95) starts around 3:04
Looks great, will try Mikiya sometime this month and report back.
I’ve been following their IG for a while, it’s currently every Friday at Parlour. @toddyshopusa is the IG tag
Thanks bro-unfortunately I don’t have social media, but my wife is now following them for me. Will definitely try to check them out if they have a pop up event during my trip in June.
best late night food on the strip? looking for something better/different than the cafe scene (grand lux, etc.)
Stay Tuned Burgers was pretty solid, had the double and some tots. 8/10
Weighing in on the Italian wars...
I got to Mother Wolf. We tried the bread (great) salad (fine) some pizza (very good) and pasta (very good). Tiramisu was outstanding and it's a favorite dish of mine. We also had a lighter dessert.
It's silly to say this isn't a good restaurant imo. But it didn't melt my brain either.
Vetri Cucina at Palms. I eat at Palms a lot and just never felt like going up a special escalator for Italian. But Balbomb's been singing their praises so I tried it and I've been back 2 times.
This is one of my favs in Vegas now, as it fills a special niche. The food is high quality. The portions run small by American and especially Vegas standards. The prices are reasonable.
I really like being able to eat there and leave feeling full, but not bloated and not having to lug a doggie bag around and worry about it spoiling.
I've had the chicory salad, which morphed into arugula with the changing of the seasons. Simply put, the best salad of this type I've ever had. It's mostly leaves, but great dressing, cheese, nuts, etc fill it out into a genuinely delicious dish. Maybe next time I can pry myself away to a different starter.
1 pasta was very good. Another pasta (the ragu) was fantastic.
Had the chocolate and cherry dessert as well as pistachio cake. Both towering home runs.
Also had the duck, which was good but not great and the little potato/cremed spinach side that comes with it is awesome. Maybe the one time I'd like a bigger portion.
Great view, obviously. Attentive and informed service, especially as it's rarely crowded.
Salad, pasta and desert with wine is about $100, very high quality, not too much, and even with the elevator Palms is easy to get in and out of with free parking. So it's really ideal for like, a great meal before poker or other activities.
I really need to give Vetri Cucina a shot, always hear rave reviews.
If you go back to Mother Wolf get the pistachio gelato, it’s almost certainly the best gelato I’ve ever had.
Good stuff ES2.
I noticed on Bravo that Aria has Proper Eats (takeout only) listed as one of the places you can use poker comps. Has anyone done this, and can describe the process? Still manual or now better integrated?
Yes, I did it twice. The first time, I asked the poker room manager for all of my comp dollars, and went upstairs. I had to ask the manager to enter the order for me once we decided what we wanted. He said the poker room has a tablet where they can enter exactly what you want.
The second time, I just ordered at the table via one of the food runners, and tipped her.
Finally got to try Winnie and Ethel’s diner this morning, definitely a top tier breakfast spot. $19 for skirt steak, eggs, biscuit and hawk browns. Also might be the best pancake I’ve ever eaten but forgot to snap a pic. Steak and eggs:
I love me some good hawk browns. 😆
Is that cheese oozing out of the side of the eggs?
how much do you have to piss off the kitchen to get hawk browns?
Best pancakes in Vegas and probably anywhere in west coast are at Dupars in the Suncoast. Pro move is to call ahead and get to go because service is slow and atmosphere is not great but the pancakes are amazing. If I’m wrong I’ll take back all the things I said about toca.

I’ve never been there but just checked Yelp and it seems the pancakes are 10/10 and everything else is pretty average. I’ll add it to the list and make sure not to venture outside the pancakes. The ones at Winnie and Ethel were really damn good

pancakes really good there but for some reason my fav are at blueberry Hill on flamingo late at night. that location only and because of the cooks there on that shift.
amazing.
Another addition to the Vegas burger list, totally unexpected but yardbird has a fantastic double patty burger. The short rib brisket blend was good enough after a bite to order one for takeout.
Went to Biwon for Korean BBQ and had a blast. The ribeye and short ribs were especially great.

Blueberry hill is definitely way better than it should be in general, and I like the pancakes a lot, but cmon they can’t hold Dupars jockstrap when it comes to pancakes.
My wife and I went to Momofuku last Tuesday night and both of us were astounded by the food. We ordered Spicy Cucumbers, Ginger Scallion Noodles, and Grilled Iberico Pork. The cucumbers were really good and the flavor just popped in your mouth. The crunchy things added the spice but it wasn’t too much heat. The noodles were delicious with the mushrooms being the best part. But that pork was the most tender and flavorful of anything we’ve ever had. The bill was $140 total.
This place is now on our must have list for Vegas trips.

I guess I'll have to try breakfast at Winnie & Ethel's, the steak looks good. I've only had lunch/dinner so far and thought it was sort of average. It didn't help that they were out of a lot of menu items every time I went. I also don't really get what they are going for with their theme - it's a beautiful modern decor that would suggest a trendy place, but the food and music suggests overdone 50s diner. They are still really new and probably figuring things out, but I hope they get rid of the cheesy 50s schtick and go in a more trendy direction ala Makers & Finders. There are enough shitty 50s diners in this city.
Knives no restaurant deserves more than two chances for you to have a great experience. I had to learn that with marche bacchus. My wife and I had easily 30 great meals there, even looked at having our wedding reception there. About 2.5 years ago, they lost most of their staff, went through 3 changes in chefs, and we tried at least 6 times and it was never the same. The service went from great to horrible, never saw the same waiter, special menus would look amazing and never taste up to par.
