Hamas has said the hostages died by bombing. Israel has admitted to executing 3 of them. the releasted hostages said they were terrified of the bombing.

I'm no WWII expert at all. My expertise is in post-WWII ME and counterinsurgency but I'd assume the overwhelming allied forces destroying more people and property than what Israel is doing was a driving force.

You're talking about bringing the enemy to heel via hundreds of thousands of deaths (maybe a million), engaging for more with Hezbollah and Iran militarily, a total destruction to more than just Gaza, plus a rebuild effort.
