quick search says 120 percent of previous salary for 2 years in a row tagging the same player, then 144% for 3rd and that's the max times you can tag the same player
It's max 3 consecutive years. So in the theoretical case in which a QB is adamant about testing free agency his team could franchise tag him 3 times. After that he's a free agent but basically forced to sign a long term contract somewhere because otherwise they could tag him again once his contract is up.
You could put Mahomes on the Panthers or Patriots and wouldn't expect one of those first rounders to be top 10.
If you put Mahomes on the Jets right now, odds for next season's first rounder to be #29+ would be higher than for the pick being top 20.
Let's not get too crazy. He is a solid QB, but let's not act like he is going to transform one of the worst teams in the league into one of the best. If he was that good KC wouldn't have to surround him with either 2 of the top 5 pass catchers in the game or when they let one of them go they wouldn't have felt the need to bring in so many other pass catchers.
He was 12th in comp. %, 9th in yds/gm, 8th in pass TDs, 4th in INT, 8th in QBR and 15th in QB rating. This on a team with the goaTE and a team that drafted or traded for 32 pass catchers when they lost tyreek.
Mahomes has more SuperBowl MVPs than Rodgers playoff wins since getting drafted in 2017.
rogers will never be the favorite for most successful former packer quarterback

Ridiculous conversations about ARog in the NFL thread
if you've got 15 mins the QB analysis done on the Ringer draft guide on the first 6 QBs is very interesting. For each of them there's a scouting report, a load of facts and stats and then some in depth charting of their accuracy, tendencies etc for each type of throw they make...windows, progressions, type of pressure etc etc

Cliffs....Caleb the best QB by a mile.

Ya aiyuk is gone
Think they're just going to cut bait now? Deebo 28, Kittle 30, CMC about to turn 28. You could look up in 2 years and have nothing at WR, TE or RB.
$14 mil this year, tag of around $25 mil next year, second tag of around $30 mil in 2026 if they do it again. Aiyuk certainly isn't going to take that without a fight though, especially given how vocal he's already been about a new contract.
Purdy cheap this year and next, guaranteed.
I dunno. They might just need to pay Aiyuk.
Hopefully they don't pull a Titans, granted AJB was 2 years younger.

It’s tough
You can get a 1st+ for aiyuk right now and reshuffle picking a wr in the deepest wr draft since aiyuk. Deebo is likely out soon and yes, kittle and cmc aren’t long for their prime. If you keep aiyuk you’re committing to a 2 year window for all the marbles with a spectacularly unhappy wr1
If you extend aiyuk right now you’re committing to a 2 year window before absolute cap hell
The Niners are worse off without aiyuk no question about it, but the only way to keep treading at the top is to make hard moves and hope you’re deep enough and can draft well enough. The Niners are certainly deep enough and I have no reason to believe they are going to suck at drafting any time soon
Idk, the heart wants aiyuk to stay now that he’s finally arrived but **** man, this is a price
Lions also sign Penei Sewell 4-112/85
Good on them, signing their home grown stars early.
Sewell is 23! Younger than Bo Nix and Michael Penix and two months older than Jayden Daniels!
Ravens extend Bateman another 2 years. Not at all newsworthy around the league, but I like it.
To me it says they're happy with what they have to catch for Lamar. And to be honest I agree, there are more holes like O-line and at corner that need to be addressed more than at WR. At this point after re-signing Agholor, getting Andrews back, Zay/Likely's evolution, and adding Henry, I don't think we need to waste a 1st or 2nd on offensive weapons.
Draft offensive line, corners, probably an edge rusher. Throw in a late flier on a RB to have until Keaton's healthy.

Terms will be very interesting, given he is averaging 33 yards and 0.13 touchdowns a game over 3 seasons as a 1st Rd pick with a 2 time MVP passing to him
Guessing they are doing this to buy low when they think he will improve but it must be enough for him to think it’s worth doing it rather than back himself this season

He's had trouble staying healthy. But I think if given a bigger role he'd perform. Just tough to feed that many mouths in this offense.

that was per game stats.
He's played 35 games for 93 receptions 1167 yards and 4 TDs.
Those stats are what you want from a 1st rd receiver in 1 season, not 3. There can't be that many excuses given they picked Flowers 2 years later at pretty much the same position and he immediately outperformed him.
Either way, it'll be interesting to see the $$ and the Ravens see him everyday so yep, I'm sure they think he's capable of more
Oh yeah, I'm not advocating that Bateman is a star or anything. At this pace he's a bust considering the draft capital spent. Just that I think it's good they kept him on for depth.
Stealers declining the option on fields
Ok then
I don't watch much college football, so I watch highlights and combine videos on youtube. It wont let me post his combine vid here, copyright.
Hope the kid does alright, seems like a nice fellow, just my thoughts.. He throws like grandmother. I don't know where all this hype is coming from but if my team took him I'd die inside. With his arm strength whatever he did in college is nice, he has no buisness in the nfl. Any team that takes him should hire someone to open pickle jars for him. A
