Removing the settlements in 2005 was a bit like the demand for Hamas to be destroyed in the war right now. I don't expect numbskulls to understand this, but disengagement from Gaza and the walls have been a bigger problem than settlements were. Was Israel really trying for peace with Gaza with the withdrawal or was it part of setting up conditions for a permanent war?
Remove the settlements and wall off 2.5 million poor people in perhaps the most densely populated place on Earth and leave them dependent on you for stuff like water. Recipe for success?
