thanks and yes, I'm in the same boat. While I played a lot of hands in an online game last year, I've only played about 50 hours of live poker since October and am very rusty. Not sure I have any poker fitness for hand watching, patience or aggression and at tables full of TAGnits at 5/10 I wouldn't be beating the rake IMO

That was my perception of the CAZ 3/5 vs 2/3 (now true NL). However in three years I won at 3/5 while losing at everything else. And that is without the AUS confiscatory rake.

DPS clocked me at 85 (they said)(20 over) on my way to Vegas this spring north of Kingman. Got a ticket for 'wasting finite resources'. Under $100 fine, no points, no insurance notification. Calling that a win.

Last one before that was coming home from my LV bachelor party 14 years ago, driving my buddies CTS-V (think 4 door sedan with a Corvette drivetrain). Bigger fine, but at least it's finally fallen off my record.

Never have I ever paid a parking ticket from a municipality. ASU ticketed me once on campus, which I paid, because it would have kept me from graduating, otherwise. No impact/issue not paying a city parking ticket.

JFC, don't call him; he might show up.

I accumulated lots of parking tickets while at university when I realized there didn't seem to be any repercussions... until one day returning to find the wheel-lock-of-death put on one of my wheels. Lol, I was forced to pay up.

I returned to the university a couple decades later on a quiet summer Sunday with my wife to stroll around the campus. When we got back to the car (one of only about a half dozen parked in the parking lot that day), I had a ticket. Lol, I stiffed them on that one.

How much are you playing these days?

Got a speeding ticket an hour ago.

Honestly I'm not even mad, for as fast as I drive I've avoided speeding tickets for the last 10 years which is a miracle in itself.

Surprisingly, the cop did not accept my excuse that I was accelerating to dry my car faster following a carwash (100% true btw).

Good thing I made $22K at $5/5 last month so I can afford to blow some money fighting this ticket.

LOL. Just Pay (tm)

Never plead guilty to speeding.

Never plead guilty to speeding.

Why would I spent potentially up to a full day waiting to talk to a judge? The price of the ticket is nothing compared to what I could be making while sitting on shitty benches in a dusty ass courtroom waiting to be found guilty anyway.

But you do you I guess.

You don't.

You pay someone else to get it resolved without going to court.

Or take the "class" - usually referred to as the Defensive Driving course. In Az, I believe we can take it once a year, citation to citation.

Last time I took it (immediately before (d'oh!) my ticket coming back from LV 14 years ago) it was great! I haven't laughed that hard for that long ever. "Class" was supposed to be 07:00 to 15:00, but the first hour+ was checking in the 120+ people in the class. The next 3-4 hours was him cherry picking offences from the class, and commenting on them. Dude could have been a stand-up. Cutting down arguments why they thought they should have got off, cutting down gov't for asinine ordinances. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much (no drugs were consumed).

There were some stipulations about the class, he had to teach so much material from the pamphlet they provided. He went over the bare minimum, usually highlighting the more esoteric laws in Az. He bribed us with getting out early for good reviews, which we all readily agreed to.

A few weeks later, I ran into one of my classmates at the grocery store, and we both said how much fun we had at the mandatory Saturday class, and how it wasn't so much a waste of our time as we expected it to be.

Unfortunately, I believe it is now 100% online, with monitors to ensure you are paying attention and answering questions timely, etc. Probably not as much fun.

RIP. 61 is too young, damn.

I have logged somewhere over 700K miles driven in the past 25 years or so. 1 speeding ticket. And it was kind of bullshit tbh.

But I have been pulled over 7 or 8 other times with no ticket (not including 3 bogus stops where the officer was hoping he had a DUI or was looking for someone else), so I am winning, I guess.

With as much as you DUI with an open container in the car, you sure do run good.

When I delivered pizza for a living I used to get pulled over all the time, because I was driving crappy cars, late at night, rather slowly as I was looking for addresses. Of course, the cop couldn't say "we're just checking to see if you are drunk/stoned," so they would always make up some BS reason they pulled me over, like "one of the bulbs on your license plate light is out. It's still legal, but I wanted to let you know," or "your tire tread looked low." In the dark my moving tires seemed to have low tread? Good eyes, dude.

just booked my flight/hotel for my first ever trip to vegas during the WSOP, only been trying to do it for like 20+ years. its short, June 1-4, because i had to fit it between multiple kids events. gonna try to play day 1D of the Mystery Millions. judging from last years WSOP blog, if i FT it, i will miss my flight home. so hopefully i miss my flight.

any tips/suggestions for being in Vegas during WSOP would be greatly appreciated.

Got my last email warning for iCloud, that all my pictures would be deleted if I didn't respond.

Somehow, I'm guessing it won't be the last piece of spam though.

Win your flips.

Johnny,

Register on the first for the flight on the second. Then, wander over to the tournament area and get the lay of the land. Find your seat, map out a route in and out for breaks, locate the bathrooms.

While doing this, spend some time to "take in" the experience of the WSOP. Get that out of the way, so you're ready to play without distraction on 1D. Look at the million-dollar display (if they still have that), get a feel and sense of the place, etc.

Bring something to munch on, like snack bars, and a water bottle. I've found the days to be pretty long.

Do a TR, even if it's just a few posts here. Let us live vicariously through you.

Have fun. Run well. Get in the cash, then win the damn thing.
