Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
Dunyain, please take a timeout from the thread until 12:00 AM Eastern Time.
I *just* warned you guys to address claims and content, NOT each other.
This is not the 'take it from I/P thread to here' spot. What happens there applies here too. Its enough.
Crossnerd giving time-outs left and right around here for...I am not even sure what. Browser must be laughing his ass off at us for thinking that he was being heavy-handed.
Timeouts were designed to be the opposite of heavy handed, friend 😀
lol yeah just requesting people stop posting in a thread after warnings is about the lightest touch you can take. And working much much better than the insanely heavy handed approach.
CN seems to be doing about as good as anyone could do and the temps are working. If she starts perma banning everyone then id assume that she had an axe to grind but she hasmt and has been pretry flexible with everyone.
Sarcasm is not against the rules.
You troll people, they respond and then get a timeout. Two in two days for you not bad...I can see why you like this system.
Yep. Maybe 3. Me dun and even rafiki lost it due to his trolling.
And she doesn't find his trolling problematic troublesome or racist enough for him to get a timeout and he gets to keep doing it
washoe pushes the line but he posts antisemitic memes so he cannot avoid it
Yep
And she doesn't find his trolling problematic troublesome or racist and he gets to keep doing it
I opened the I/P thread the other day and saw that your undertitle said 'banned' so I was excite to see you get real Metsy and then I read through and was like "that was it???".....it was a bit of a letdown.
Mets, do you really want to do this again?
"The carnage moves to Lebanon next, and then Iran, and so on and so on. Israel has the right"
3 Israel posters respond to this bullshit and you ban 1 and give 1 a timeout and almost gave rafiki until you realized you overreacted and he basically gave himself a week off to avoid the bs being allowed in the thread
I don't think you are being personal against me but you are letting your feelings on the topic guide your modding
So do i want to do this again? I'm not even sure i want to post in the thread anymore anyway because these trolls will keep saying these lies over and over until we're all banned
Goodnight

You have been warned about your behavior repeatedly. Your last meltdown resulted in the I/P thread being closed entirely, and the only reason you weren't banned for it was because you immediately realized your mistake and volunteered to take a week off to spare yourself the embarrassment. You PM me constantly with a nasty, combative, sarcastic tone, and you complain about others behaving in ways you consistently engage in yourself. A different mod gave you a final warning that your next issue would result in a 30 day ban. For whatever reason, since then you have *still* not adjusted your behavior.
You're right it isn't personal. Statistically, you should have been banned already, and I have chosen to take a gentle hand with you, but I am telling you right now- and so everyone else is aware- you are on thin ice, and my patience is wearing thin on the constant comebacks to light corrections. Stop with your outbursts. Listen to warnings. Go to bed.
you're really taking all the fun out of cheerleading a genocide, xn. you should be ashamed
I thought no content posts were against the rules. Roughly 80% of Trolly posts have no content apart from sarcasm and insults.
On the other hand, I haven't noticed mets saying anything objectionable.
You say he's "doing it again", and I have no idea what you're referring to.
The carnage moves to Lebanon next, and then Iran, and so on and so on. Israel has the right
There isn’t anything in this post that violates the rules. It’s not trolling any specific posters and it is a relevant comment to the current events. If you can’t respond to “this bullshit” without melting down, then you are the problem.
I give many many warnings and timeouts before banning in most instances. Consider the source.
There is nothing wrong with that post.
MOD edit: This is not the I/P thread. The deleted content is still accessible to mods if you want it sent to you to post in the proper thread.

I would understand all this if the forum was something like "palestiniansofpoker.com", incorporated in an Arab country.
But is isn't.
It's an American forum. Hamas is a terrorist organization in America. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization in America. Iran is under american sanctions.
Israel is an American military ally.
The ICC has no jurisdiction in America.
It's already a big stretch to allow anyone who is pro Hamas to post at all.
It's already incredible not to lifeban (and contact legal authorities) anyone who even slightly justifies any terrorist "resistance" at all.
"Statistically" (?) it's not symmetrical at all, not even vaguely so, in an objective legal sense when talking from America, but you choose to make it so because of your personal opinion on the matter.
Another hopeless post.
If it's illegal to voice anti-Israel opinions why aren't demonstrators being arrested?
There's something called freedom of speech.
Arrests of Israel-Hamas war protesters exceed 2,300

Police ordered pro-Palestinian protesters to abandon a tent encampment at New York University early Friday, following weeks of demonstrations and police crackdowns at college campuses nationwide that have resulted in more than 2,300 arrests.

The arrests of pro-Israel people are 0 afaik.
So, legally, there is no symmetry: one side is acting against the law in hundreds of places, the other isn't (in america). One side is objectively infinitely worse (legally) than the other.
So a median, "neutral", american forum would treat people who agree with the criminals being arrested worse than people who agree with those that... aren't arrested.
Because the stupid authorities don't like encampments, not because voicing opinions is against the law (though they don't like that either).
If someone does call law enforcement to report that they saw someone criticizing Israel on a poker message board, please record and post the conversation, thanks.
