watching his reasoning in 2024 (him being scared of foxen having a 3 on the river ) makes me fear for my poker game in 5 years when I'll be his age.

Lol, I'm talking about you having to point out that you are Ok with someone being gay lol.

Phil Ivey won a bracelet earlier this year. Phil Ivey is black. Are you good with that, too?

I believe they call this a freudian slip...

Good job on outing your inner racism

Just busted the $250k, onto 2nd bullet. Has work to do if He's going to break even this year.

(Daniel) just busted the $250k, onto a 2nd bullet.
He has work to do if he's going to break even this year.

So if Daniel bricks the $250k high roller, he'll have a chance of cracking the -$1,000,000 mark for the wsop series.

Dude, you're being such a hater... you can't think of it as $250K, you have to think of it as one buy-in. One. Hater.

Is there a bigger donator than DNegs at the WSOP?

by LimpDitka k

Pretty sure almost everyone in here wants him to win a bracelet ...even the negative posters

Pretty sure you are wrong. I certainly do not want him to win a bracelet.

Tons. Id say he's up lifetime at the WSOP but I could be wrong.

He would be hard to beat in this regard, right?

Figure that Daniel plays pretty much the maximum number events that is practical (although Shaun Deeb might best him there), a volume which includes multiple bullets. Plus, we know his results because he's open enough to post it on a daily basis. Save for the old WSOPDB from days of yore, few bits of information give us a better glimpse of how stuck someone can be even when scoring, oh, 20 cashes for $780K during a single series.

Of course, plenty of players are in town for the entire WSOP, playing every day, yet clearly not cashing often or as large enough to offset the outlay. We can probably think of a few dozen right off the tops of our heads. But what separates Negreanu from most of those regs is that DNegs plays in all of the high-roller events.

In the end, we may never know for sure. For example, I see the two Foxens in updates in many events, but it's quite possible they're stuck for more than DNegs. But when you go year to year, it's tough to find someone who has poured more into the prize pools than DNegs.

(And for anyone who counters with "but GG pays his buy-ins," no, this discussion was settled a year ago.)

kinda interesting that Allen Kessler said he was a millionaire in one of the recent vlogs

does he make most of his money from playing poker?

I always wondered how much he profits because you seem him play almost every tournament at the WSOP

I was thinking this year specifically

Allen clearly has his money from other venues than poker. Either heritage/family money or just retired from a profitable job years ago - as a single, healthy person in the US, you can build up quite a lot of money working a good job and living frugally, which Allen clearly does.

He seems to me as someone who just loves playing poker as a hobby and that's pretty much his only interest in life. Doesn't spend money on anything else.

Funny, I almost singled out Kessler in my last post, but I like Allen and didn't want to pick on him. So I chose the Foxens instead, as they seem to buy into larger events. But yeah, Chainsaw is a prime example of someone who is out there every day, but doesn't seem like he could possibly be in the black at the WSOP.

Iโ€™ve heard from a few people that Kessler is actually a +ev gambler and makes money grinding this plus heโ€™s very good at the comp game

Die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself wearing the free casino windbreaker, casino-hotel hat, ordering black coffees, and saying "Dollars!?" anytime someone raises more than 4bbs pre

yah i was reading your post, and Allen was the one that came to mind regarding your post almost immediately

DN now has 3.9 M (2.7 buyins) in the $250K. He got allin preflop or on the flop for 50xBB with JJ versus QQ and hit a J on the turn.

***

I meant he got allin preflop for 20xBB with JJ versus QQ. He and Ivey are old schoolers still in it.

by deuceblocker k

DN in the $250K.
He got all in with JJ versus QQ and hit a J on the turn.

If you're gonna use up your 'one time', what better place to use it up, than in a $250k buy-in event.

He is 15 of 25 with 12 places paying, so he has some chance.

You know, Daniel not having won a ring in ten years, that's like Hellmuth never winning a WPT title weird. Things you wouldn't expect. Ivey taking ten years makes sense. He is usually more enamored by cash games than the WSOP.

I'm a little surprised (I mean, not shocked) that people seem to need to be vehemently for or against Daniel to follow his vlog.

I understand that comments will be skewed to those extremes, but idk... I just find him to be a reasonably entertaining (if often frustrating) guy who's been an icon of televised poker for as long as I've paid attention.

And it's way cheaper to sweat his Series than it is to put myself in the Series (or Vegas summer MTTs more broadly). (Heck, I haven't even been fast enough to buy a piece yet. So it couldn't be cheaper. I did buy a piece of Kessler's mixed $10ks, though.)

I think what I get out of watching his WSOP vlog is very similar to what he gets out of playing the WSOP: even just vicariously, I enjoy the variety of the schedule (he doesn't only grind NLH, even if it'd probably be +EV for him to do so) and I enjoy the summer-long storyline of how it goes.

Also, I think his dogs are cute. I think his interactions with Kessler, Ivey, etc are kinda funny. The Beat Saber competition is a silly little subplot that I like just enough. And as a vegan who has loved eating in Las Vegas, I also get some dopey enjoyment out of seeing some of the takeout he gets! Like, that first Italian meal he got? With the tiramisu? C'mon. The best. (And, like, he's showing off that it can be enjoyable to be vegan. We don't subsist solely on romaine and celery; I promise.)

On balance, I enjoy Daniel's personality and I appreciate that he shares the experience of a full (or mostly full) WSOP grind with folks.

I'll always be sentimental about the WSOP (and summer poker in Vegas more broadly) and--historically and for the foreseeable future--I'm not going to make it out to Vegas myself regularly. So I appreciate the window into it.

...even if Negreanu is delusional about PLO and insisted on ranting about participation trophies and his undoubtedly questionable politics when that's not at all what that ruling is about.

He's kinda getting run over from what I've watched so far. I think he's afraid to bust with a worse hand on the vlog that it makes him play super passive.

Yes he's getting run over so far.

Don't think the vlog has anything to do with him being super massive.

Edit: passive, not massive

~17th in chips w/ 22 left. Needs a top 6 finish to be in the black for the series.
